Call your local auto parts store napa or carquest i swho we use but there are many more. but when you call tell them year make engine size 4 or 5 speed and tell them you want a complete kit (clutch pressure plate and throw out brg. and possible pilot brg.) and have your fly wheel re surfaced.
call and price more than one store and ask about warranty you dont want to in stall substandard parts in your GTI

this is a big job and you only want to do it once dont be cheap and say the throw out brg looks good or the flywheel looks good. it wil deminish the life of the other new parts.

dont want to be mean just truthful .
you have a awsome car there and lets get it back to the performance level VW intended.

Will a 96,97 year,clutch kit fit a 95 year model?

clutches are measured in clutch plate diameter. Unless there is a significant increase in power in engine between years then there is a good chance that the clutch kits will fit . In your case you are going down in years so the only thing to stop you is the clutch plate diameter . I am inclined to think that it will. Check the kit numbers in the spare parts shops
looking on the net an EXcedy clutch kit toyota rav 4 1994-2005--- sxa10r, sxa11r. That tells me that it is the same clutch kit

Do I need a pilot bearing for my flywheel? No one lists it, for the Accord

You definitely have a pilot bearing, ask a. Napa dealer to find you one, if they don't see it in the book listed.
its going to be part of the clutch kit you'll be buying to replace your old one.
in the kits you get a pressure plate, release bearing, disc, alignment tool, and pilot bearing, Beck Arnley is a good choice.
if you want just a bearing you'll probably need, the input shaft diameter where the bearing rides, the inner diameter of the flywheel hole it's inserted in, and the depth of the hole in the flywheel.
you should have to much trouble finding one.

Replace clutch in 2000 Mercury Cougar

i would get a shop to do that cause you will have to drop the transmission to change it out i have to change mine an if you dont have a clue on wat your doin i would just pay for some1 else to do it. my best advise is go buy the clutch kit from auto zone its goin to cost 330 dollars after tax cause the shop will charge you 700 for the cluth kit. then another 700 to 900 for labor.

Clutch is noisy, when i depress the clutch the noise goes away

this noise is caused by a noisy clutch throw-out/release bearing, that is the part that presses against the pressure plate and disengages the clutch disk, the transmission must be removed to replace this part, so it is best to replace the clutch assembly at the same time, the labor for both is the same, about 5 hours

My acura legend 1990 jumps out of second gear and sometimes wont get in gear.just sart makin a loud noise but gets quit when i clutch in .i think its my clutch thats goin out but dont know

Probably your synchros in the transmission, if so it's cheaper to replace the tranny with a known good/tested junkyard trans.

If it was your release bearing on your clutch you would hear a ringing noise when you push the clutch in to release it.

If the car is in overall good shape you might consider changing the trans and installing a new clutch kit, it will come with the bearings, etc. Be prepared to lose a gear completely and you'll have to skip that gear during your shifting order to get up to speed.

How hard is it to rebuild an 86 Suzuki Samurai 5 speed transmission? I have a tranny tech telling me I need a clutch, flywheel resurface and a remanned unit. How hard could it be. Not 1800$$$! That's Hard....

ITS NOT A HARD JOB. BUT YOU HAVE TO BE CAREFUL.YOU ARE WORKING UNDER A CAR. BESURE TO USE JACK STANDS .YOU NEED A REPAIR MANUAL.IT SHOW YOU HOW TO REMOVE TRANSMISSION.YOU HAVE TO SUPPORT ENGINE WHEN MOVING TRANNY.REBUILT KITS.WILL HAVE ALL GASKETS SEALS AND BEARINGS.BUT MAJOR PARTS YOU HAVE TO BUY THEM SEPERATE.LIKE SHIFT FORK COUNTERSHAFT AND SYNCHRONIZERS.NOW THE CLUTCH KIT IT WILL HAVE CLUTCH PRESSURE PLATE AND CLUTCH RELEASE BEARING.BESURE WHEN YOU BUY KIT MAKE SURE CHECK IT.MAKE SURE IT HAS EVERYTHING YOU NEED.

How to choose the best clutch kit

you need to match your new clutch to the old one the only concern you should have is the torque value it should always be the same or exceed the the factory specs but if you exceed the torque it can be no more than 15% greater than factory specs.also remember to change the input shaft bearing/bushing in the crank

I have replaced the Clutch Slave for a 1990 Supra Turbo, and after the next day all the Fluid leaks out from the resevior.I don know wher the fluid goes. what should I do next? Thank You, Frank

Hey Frank. When one cylinder goes the other usually follows because higher pressure needed to operate a new cylinder, sometimes the fluid leaks down the firewall or down your clutch pedal onto the floor, if its your master cylinder that is.You can get a new one or get your old one rehoned and a stainless steel tube inserted and it will last forever as theyre made of aluminium and wear. Either way you'l need to buy a new kit for the inside of it.Be mindful what you order as some models of cars the abs and non abs cylinders are a very slight different diameter. I hope this helps.
