According to Allison on Answers.Youhoo.com: " If you cannot go in Reverse but can go forward it is your transmission. It could be the synchroniser, the gear itself or part of the actuating system, but if it's inside the transmission (not linkage on the outside) it's sometimes easier to replace than take apart, diagnose and rebuild. Not all mechanics feel comfortable working on transmissions, too, so you may want to have a specialist look at it before you pay anyone anything." Usually you are looking at having to rebuild your transmission. Sorry.
does it feel like the engine is holding back when this "hiccup" occours with this mileage the cat convertor could be getting clogged by carbon deposits so as a first, and cheap , first step i'd put some fuel additive in the tank that is specific for the cat as well as the valves/cylinders etc follow the instructions on the product you choose but you can get good results with these products i use them as part of my vehicle maintenance routine
The clutch lining worn out n the lining powder stuck on the transmission filter so transmission fluid pass through the filter clogged.. Only way is to repair the transmission or replace the whole transmission.
Ur BMW X5 series is having a transmission problems and it going to be worst if u don't take this car to a AMGO or the BMW dealership to take a look at it transnission gear box.Must have the car transmission fix.If u adnore this problems long enough the car transmission gears in the box will evenly buckle and grain to a ruin all of the gears parts teeths and than the car have to be in reverse and go to drive again every times tries to drive this car.Evenually all the gears teeths in the transmission box are all gone this car will go into iddle and will not go into drive gear at all.
to check oil start vehicle in park and let idle, open large allen bolt [normally 17mm] on g/box sump, oil should spill from aperture. if not top up until it does. this must be done at a temperature of less than 30 degrees celsius as oil expands at higher temperatures.
Not a good sign. Check your transmission fluid. Make sure that vehicle is running at the same time. thats how you check transmission fluid. if its low, add fluid, check and make sure which kind to add so you dont add wrong kind. if that dont work, then your gonna have to probably end up buying another transmission or having that one rebuilt. feel free to write back
It seems that you may have a wiring problem. When you put the car in
reverse the engine will twist counterclockwise and could be pulling on
Start the car and move or jiggle harnesses under the hood and see if
the Jeep acts funny. If the Jeep hiccups while moving a harness, you've
narrowed down the area where the problem is.
