I was wondering if anyone knows how long dealers will honor recall repairs?

    Thanks,

I suggest that you inquire about parts from outside dealers ships due to length of time between actually attempting to fix your problem especially with recall repairs. Both my doors handle have stuck or have failed. Generally pulling it apart and greasing the internal parts helps however if the part has long since gone beyond repair. Simply finding another part from a wrecker or parts shops is very good.

Hope this is helpful

I have a 2006 Silverado ext cab. The passenger side door was missing the lock cylinder when I bought it (used of course) The passenger side door also doesn't open from the outside but the inside latch...

I just looked on e-bay and discovered you will be needing to buy the outside door handle which comes with the lock cylinder.
You can probably buy one of these from a Chevy or GMC truck dealer, or go on-line and check with e-bay or others to get one.
You can also find one at a salvage yard, but there you may not get a key with it.
A locksmith can cut you a key, but a used handle and a "locksmith-key" may cost you more that a new one!
The handle and lock are held on with a couple of screws inside the door shell.
Be blessed.

If I recall correctly the door handle should be similar to the F150. The rod should have a plastic at the end that hooks to a mechanism where the inside door handle should go. I have a clip for you which you could use as reference.
In case the handle is different it may be the second type which connects directly to the handle. It should hook to the handle but you will have to turn the handle to get the rod locked. This video is from an explorer.

I Have a 97 Passat ,Just purchased NONE of the outside door handless will work, the other party even broke the driver side door. inside handles barely work if at all any ideas, the door key seems to...

You should take it back.....If you try to fix it you may affect warranty.....If it has one....
Also it might be a recall.....It would pay to call a dealer give them vin # and see about any recalls.
It sounds like the WCU (wireless control unit)is malfunctioning...If you dont take it back to where you bought it you will need a scanner to scan the WCU and the CCM (cabin control module).

I went to open the driver side door and the exterior portion of the handle came loose.. I worked it back in and it seems to work, I'm opening the passenger side door to get to the driver side inside handle...

the door handle is either broke or a part of it has slipped loose, either way, you'll have to remove the inner door panel to get to it, this is not difficult, a few screws and the panel is retained by push in type plugs that can be pryed loose. the entire door latch assy is held in by screws and is serviced by replacement, the difficulty come with very tight area to work in, and is irritating and time consuming, if you are not good with tools i'd suggest a good mechanic or body shop. always get a quote!!

Go to your Suzuki dealer, there is a recall for certain Forenza's to have all 4 inside door handles replaced at no cost. If there isn't a dealer near by, e-mail me your vin number and I can look it up for you to see if it qualify for it. dpj1122@yahoo.com Don Suzuki man
