2001 mazda 626 intermittent starting problem. Help!

Five areas to check for this. The ignition switch, the neutral safety switch, the relay and fuse, the starter and wiring. Next time it happens, hit the starter with something hard(hammer, steel rod, prybar), If it starts, replace the starter. If you hear a click when trying to start, it is the starter. I still hit it to make sure. Sometimes it could be a low voltage/wire problem.

Car occasionally will not start or turn over

Could be. Could be a bad starter also. Find the starter. Next time it happens, hit the starter with something hard(hammer/rod) as someone tries to start it. If it starts up, replace the starter.

New battery but engine just clicks when you try to start it.

David, if you able to give the starter a whack with a pipe, hammer or something heavy, then try. Be careful hit starter body and not the solenoid. This may get starter working momentarily, but should be replaced.

Everything comes on but the starter and then when you go back 3 or 5 days later the starter will come on this is on a 2005 kia

Next time it won't turn over, Hit the starter with a hammer or something hard a few times. If it starts, replace the starter. After that it is electrical. Checking for power and grounds. And wire chasing.

Clicking sound when trying to start

the clicking sound may be the sound of a bad starter or the battery doesnt have enough juice to start the truck try giving a jump start first if that does not work try hitting the starter with a hammer a few times to see if it starts if it does this is a starter problem.if no start check and see if there is power athe possitive wire when trying to start it. because this is an older truck you can check for powere at the solenoid on the fender

Toyota camry starter solonid intermittent engage if ihit the starter motor with a hammer it starts what wrong ?

Hi:
As starters get old, they can bind up , and that hammer hit you did just broke it free. You need to replace your starter as an assembly, and you should be good to go.

Car won't start. battery is not dead.

First check the battery under load, sometimes the battery has power but when you turn the key it just depletes. If the battery check is good and the engine still won't turn over listen for a single click when you try to start the car. If you hear the click then you should start looking toward the starter.

I test starters the old fashioned way. You will need two people to complete the test. One will have to be in the car ready to turn the key. The other should locate the starter and with a hammer tap it with moderate force all over the entire starter. If the starter is bad it will "most likely" start up.

Note: As I said before "moderate force" You don't need sledge hammer power behind the hammer to do this test. Hitting it too hard will only damage if further if its not the problem.

This issue your having can be 1 of a 100 different thing, my reply is the easiest as well as free way to test your starter. If it does start then obviously its the starter. and that was probably the last start for that starter.

Hope that helped, I could help you further if you provided more info. (battery voltage, mileage, ect.)
