The FIRST thing to do is scan your onboard computer network for possible fault codes. You may just have a code for a cranshaft position sensor or Mass Air Flow sensor or something similar that will explain why the engine is not getting any fuel.

Check the fuel delivery system to make sure it is performing according to manufacturers specifications:

The fuel pressure specification for 1999 Dodge Durango is 44-54 Psi. (3.0-3.8 kg/sq.cm) Please note that the specification published by the manufacturer is with the key ON, engine OFF and the fuel pump being activated with a scan tool.

Also note that "CLOSE" is not good enough. I have had vehicles towed in that were only 2 or 3 Psi under the minimum specification that would not start.

If the fuel pressure/fuel delivery is within specifications, then you need to check your fuel injection system. If it gets this far, let me know and we can continue diagnosis.

2003. Why is no gas getting to the fuel rail?

Could be a "fuel pump relay" or ford equivalent that converts ECU fuel output demand signal to power to the fuel pump. To test jump direct positive to fuel pump and see if you get pressure at the rail. If you get pressure, that may be part of the problem. If not enough pressure (but measure) you may have a fuel pressure regulator or ford equivalent issue.

Will fuel pressure regulator stop engine from starting

Yes it can if it can't maintain the correct fuel pressure. I would also check that the injectors are getting a signal from the ECM.

Hey jessica, from what you describe it sounds like a fuel pressure problem. A vehicle can have "weak" fuel pressure & may still be drivable but will not perform well on a hard acceleration. First get the fuel pressure checked and PLEASE go to someone who will use a fuel pressure gauge not stick a screwdriver in the test port and see if fuel sprays out! I believe the fuel pressure spec. for this vehicle is 55-60 psi with the key on. The codes po171,174 indicate "both banks lean" which could be caused by a lack of fuel pressure. These codes can be caused by a M.A.F. sensor problem (Mass Air Flow sensor). Common problems with M.A.F. sensors - they can get dirty and not work properly. I still highly recommend the fuel pressure test first! If it lacks pressure you know you have a bad pump. If the vehicle has a replacable fuel filter this needs to be checked & or replaced then re-check fuel pressure. If fuel pressure is OK then check for problems with the M.A.F. ( Dirty, Air leaks between sensor & engine throttle body, defective sensor) Hope this helps!

My 2000 Ford Expedition "hiccups" while driving in turns, or from a complete stop to acceleration into a turn? Sometimes it occurs while drive up a slight incline.

Sounds like a fuel problem, not enough gas getting into cylinders to burn. Have the fuel pressure checked with a fuel pressure gauge. Correct pressure in the fuel rail is critical for the injectors to spray enough gas. If pressure is low, possibly a weak fuel pump or partially clogged filter. When fuel pressure is tested, the fuel pressure regulator can be checked as well.

I put gas in my ford f-250 how do i get it out

On the back of the engine there is a fuel pressure valve. Take the cover off and screw on a hose(like the one from the fuel pressure tester, or if you have an old air hose that has an end that screws on to a bike tire valve stems , that is the size of the the fuel pressure valve) Anyway, after you get a hose that you can screw on the pressure value, just turn your key to the on position, don't start it, just turn it so the fuel filter will kick in. The fuel will flow right out of the hose. So get some gas cans or whatever you are going to put the gas in and make sure you keep the end of the hose where the gas is coming out lower than the level of gas in the tank.

My 2000 ford taurs ran ouy of gas and after putting gas in I pressed the valve on the top of the block to make sure it didnt have a air bubble and then I turned the key on to see if it was getting gas when...

If you have gas spurting through the valve when depressed, you fuel pump should probably be alright-but that can only be determined with any certainty with a fuel pressure tester. I would think it the volume of fuel was a decent amount, your pump is alright. When you try to start the car you should NOT step on the petal-that shuts off the injectors.

Does it even sound like it wants to start? Or does it just crank?

What to do if u run out of gas? Looks like the water is mixing with oil. Is there a place to put gas under hood when u run out of gas?

No there is not a place to put gas when you run out of it under the hood.. You are using a fuel injection system and you are thinking carbeurator... If you ran out of gas you will be able to get fuel pressure back in the fuel rails by turning key on and off.. but not in the crank position. You will hear the fuel pump priming.. just make sure that the fuel rails are full of fuel... and water mixing with oil?? if there is water mixing with oil in your system i will assume it is coolant.. and i will say head gasket. It is fairly expensive so if you know someone i would suggest to get them to do it... You can do a oil pressure test and see if your oil pressure is in spec.. and pressurizing the cooling system with a pressure guage to see if the cooling system holds pressure.. my guess is is that it wont
