Ho do you remove the dr power window motor , do you have to remove the regulator?
I don't want to start drilling rivits, when I can't even tell how the motor is attached, the manul states you have to secure the gear with a bolt before atempting this? is the motor rivited to the regulator? What is the easiest way to remove and replace?

YOU WILL NEED A DRILL WITH PHILLIPS HEAD ON IT, TO REMOVE DOOR PANEL.YOU WILL NEED A CENTER PUNCH TO POP OUT THE CENTER OF THE RIVITS THAT HOLD THE MOTOR AND THE REGULATOR TO THE DOOR.THEN YOU WILL NEED TO DRILL OUT ALL RIVITS ,YOU WILL ALSO NEED TO REMOVE THE TWO 10MIL BOLTS THAT HOLD THE WINDOW TO THE TRACK AS YOU WILL BE REMOVING THE WHOLE UNIT OUT TO REPLACE THE MOTOR,THIS JOB SUCKS TO DO,IF YOU DONT HAVE THE RIGHT TOOLS,IF YOU DONT HAVE RIVITS AND A BIG RIVIT GUN AND A GOOD DRILL IT COULD BE A LONG DAY.YOU ALSO COULD GET HURT REMOVING MOTOR FROM THE REGULATOR IT HAS A COIL SPRING THAT COULD TAKE YOUR FINGER OFF.GOOD LUCK
Im not 100% sure about the rear but with the front windows i removed the panel then the foam piece. I then removed the torx screws holding the regulator from the motor itself there were three in the front windows not sure about the back. There were 4 rivits holding the regulator to the door which i had to drill out. Once i put the new regulator in i put new rivits in attatched the window to the regulator via the blue clips and put it all back together.
Two possible problems. Defective motor or window regulator. Remove the door panel, you will see three star screws holding in the motor. Remove the motor, remove the plate, one screw, inside the motor you should see three plastic plugs, these get old and turn to powder, to replace these you can purchase these from any automotive store for around $8.50. But I would replace these with ball bearings cost.64 each. Now you will see some aluminum plugs with rivits holding in the window regulator. To remove these you nweed to punch out the rivits, and drill out the aluminum using 1/4 drill bit. Replace these with 1/4 inch bolts and nuts. Pack the motor with wheel bearing grease and grease the window regulator. You may want to consider replacing all the regulators and checking all the motors. If one has gone bad the others will follow. Just rweplaced all 4 on my old 1996 mercury. Order the regulators on line much cheaper.
One of two problems. Window motor or window regulator. Began by removing the door panel. Peel down the vapor barrier. This will expose the motor, you will see three star screws, remove these and then remove the motor. Remove the plate and inspect the plastic plugs in the motor, if defective replace with plugs or ball bearings, pack with wheel bearing grease. If the motor is ok. Then remove the window regulator. Using a punch punchout the rivits using a 1/4 inch drill drill out the aluminum holding in the regulator and the glass. Replacw with 1/4 inch bolts and nuts.
Dont know if one exists. But to fix the problem, you need to remove the door panel, remove the window motor, take it apart and check the plastic plugs in the motor, if they are defecticve replace with wheel bearings and pack with wheel grease. To remove the window regulator, you will need a hammer a punch, a1/4 inch drill bit a drill. You punch out the rivits, drill out the aluminum, you replace these with 1/4 screws and locking bolts. Also grease the area where the window regulator moves up and down. Replacing the plastic plugs with ball bearings and packing with plenty of grease, you willl never have a problem with the motor ever again.
