It is a slip fitting that is split in 2 . once you fit it behind the adapter, you need to pull it under the adapter. It should pop off. it is a special tool.

There is a special tool to remove fitting. Don't get too rough...you will damage heater core. This will turn a small problem into a big one!

How do I get to the heater core (through the dash_, but is it on passenger side? I am having trouble getting the bolts off. Truck is Silverado 1999 Z71 (1500).

I just replaced the heater core on my 1997 S-10. If your chevy is anything like mine, the entire dash has to come out. I recommend buying a Hayne's manual for it. Those books are life savers.

99 Chevy Z71 heater core inlet hose male fitting broke

This is an easy $7.00 fix. Go to your local auto parts store and get a GM Heater Hose Fitting. I went to NAPA, part #730-5631. Cut of the old fiting with a hack saw blade, being careful not to damage the pipe from the heater core, put the new one on. Total time takes less than 10 minutes, make sure you fill your coolant resevoir.

1999 silverado heater hose broke off in the engine compartment

Unfortunatly the short answer is no you cant, Gm and others started making heater cores and radiators out of plastic. The result has been that after the plastic gets hot and cools a few hundred times it gets brittle, hence your problem. Unless you are very good mechanically I would advise letting a pro do it for you.

2000 Silverado L/T Z71 4X4 Lubrication Diagram

Lube points should be: All moving joints in suspension. Ball joints, idler arm, tie rod ends etc. On 4X4's, all universal joints on drive axles (excluding C/V joints... just inspect boots) All slip-joints and "u" joints on driveshafts. Many of these items may not have zirk fittings on them from the factory. If the component has a plug installed, it should be removed & replaced with a fitting. If there is no place for a fitting, when the item wears out, the replacement will have a fitting.
