2001 Mazda 626 Transmission fluid servicing?

My 2001 626 has 46000 miles on it. When I had my oil changed at the Super Lube the other day, they showed me that my transmission fluid is very dark and said that I need to have it changed ASAP. What is the best course of action that I should take to have this done (flush vs drain and refill)? Also, do you think, without inspecting it, that any major damage has been done? I've not experienced any problems, but since I gained custody of this car about 5 months ago, I've read lots of horror stories about Mazda 626s and their transmission problems and want to take the best possible course of action.

~ Replace Air Cleaner

Ever 50K Miles

I have a 2001 mazda 626 manual transmission . The car jurk in 1st 2nd 3rd gear . Do u think I should add gear oil. Where do I add the gear oil at

It sounds more like a clutch problem than tranny. You can try the oil in there, but I think the clutch is shot. Check the fluid in the clutch master and make sure it is working right, no slipping, crunching, grinding, the jerking sounds like oil on the clutch. Check it out.

Where is the transmission filter - dirty transmission fluid

its located internally in the transmission. You must drain the oil and drop the pan for access. Hopefully this helps

2001 mazda 626 rpm going up to 4 before going into 2nd gear

the transmission and filter need to be changed quickly, the oil is most likely burnt and/or the filter is covered with funk, once those are swapped then your ride should cruise just fine.
