Please fix the fuel leak before anything else!! The fuel pressure is definitely being lowered by the leak and the leak itself is a serious fire hazard. If the fuel pressure is too low, the engine will starve and shut off.

My 2008 Dodge Avenger wont turn over. It cranks and gives a little rumble like it could start but lacking something. Almost as if it did start, it wouldnt stay on long at such a low idle without giving it...

You could have a small (or big....) gas leak in your fuel line (check if you smell abnormal gas fumes) or a defective gas pump. Try this to check: put the ignition key on "accessory" (like is if your in the car but just want to listen to the radio with engine off), this will active the gas pump to "pre-feed" the engine with gas with the correct amount (try it at least 2 times) then try to start the engine.....good luck!

Note: It did happenned to me and it was a leak in the gas line.

engine hard to start smelling fuel first look under hood for signs leaking fuel lines if you raise hood get strong gas smell look for wet fuel leaks on top engine where fuel lines located.if see no leaks could have leak at fuel rails to fuel injectors.if see no leaks look under vechicle around fuel tank area look for fuel dripping.

Fuel not staying primed

pull the vacum line off your fuel pressure regulator. If it smells gasy or has gas dripping from it, replace the regulator.

2002 chrysler van wont start changed battery dry gasdo to cold temp cranks but wont start smell gas

SMELL LIKE FLOODING BUT CHECK AROUND FOR FUEL LEAKS UNDER THE HOOD AROUND ENGINE COMPARTMENT WHERE FUEL LINES ARE AND CHECK UNDER THE VECHICLE FROM FRONT TO THE BACK WHERE FUEL LINES GOES TO FUEL TANK.LOOK FOR GAS DRIPPING.BEST TO SCAN VECHICLE WITH A SCANNER.MANY THINGS WILL KEEP IT FROM CRANKING UP.CHECK IGNITION FUSE MAKE SURE COIL GETTING POWER.IF ALL IS GOOD YOU REPLACED SPARK PLUGS AND WIRES HAVE VECHICLE THAT WAY YOU WONT SPEND A WHOLE LOT OF MONEY BUYING A LOT OF NEW PARTS.

Smell gas when driving. when I put it in garage after driving the smell stays for awhile. No leaks on floor of garage.

your car may not be burning off all the fuel or you are leaking. just because you dont see it on the floor doesnt mean that your not leaking. because its hot under there your evaporating faster than you drip. check your lines starting at tank. check under hood where it connects to injection system.
run the engine and smell exhaust for fuel. put your hand at the tip while engine is cold running. if you get fuel go get a tune up. if smell it while driving you have a leak. i would need more info on the car. like has it been running a little less normal?

I git an 87 plym reliant and it will start but will not stay runn

I would suspect the pickup in the distributor. It is a common problem, and a fairly cheap and easy try. It is located under the rotor button, and should be about $15-20.
