Control Head for heat

My heat stopped working in my 1989 Corvette, the mechanic said I need a new control head, which happens to be discontinued, any idea where i can find one so my heat and rear defroster will work? Thanks

I have the same problem. I suspected the blend door motor. But it looks like you
have had a mech check all that.

The control head is avbl for $500.00 exchange USED of course from VOLUNTEER vette products.

I have an extra blend door motor to sell if that is your problem.

To check your blend door motor attach a ground clip to position C then touch power 7 to 12
volts go position D. The arm will move.

1989 corvette overheating. Put new radiator 160 thermostat. need help

You never use a 160 stat

That was a 1960's thing to do,
when there were no computers

I ran a 160 in my 1965 vette, just to see what
would happen.
I had no problems & built my own motors

Your best to go to a shop that has been around for years
in the same place with the same owner

May want to ask a local vette club for a place they use

I don't know when, why ,etc your issues started or the
vehicle history.

Usually a head gasket,if you loosing coolant

Water pump is eaten up inside

Some engines use reverse flow for coolant,
if you just had work done on it

Need to know that product to work on it.

Heat blows out at floor only and ac does not come on even though light Indicates it's on. Has rear defrost and light works..Also has recirculating air button . I'm guessing the whole heating control in...

I would first remove the fuse for the heater control head for one minute and then put in and retry.
The control head could have locked up on you with a volt spike. The rear defrost switch does not go through the same circuit in the heat as the hvac controls. Could be a broken know also.
Could also be mechanical linkage on side of heater box above accelerator pedal may have broken or popped apart. or if electrical motor control may be actuator.

I have a 87 with an elecronic heat and air controler,I can set temp going up, but not down.heat works great,But to good

The control head display will be needing a replacement. The button the lower the temperature is no longer operating correctly.
The control head is electronic with very small buttons on it if I remember correctly. These units were exchanged units at the Chevy Dealerships parts departments. I seriously doubt if they are still available although you can check. I know there are a lot of web sites that sell parts for Corvettes and they may have one for yours. I would GOOGLE your item and see

I have an 84 vette and cannot switch from vent to defrost or heat, it only stays on vent at all times can u advise please ? smoke in Deetroit

First, check that the vacuum line from the engine going into the dash is connected and not leaking. Then, check for vacuum at the control head. If there is vacuum there, check the vacuum "motors" on the heater box. If they have vacuum and fail to operate then the diaphragm inside the non-moving one has failed and the motor needs replacement. If motors are not getting a vacuum signal back up to the control head. The control is bad.

1989 Honda Accord speedometer not working. What is a speedo head?

The speedo head or cluster is the part that houses the speedometer and tach, etc. now it may be the speedo cable that comes from the transmission to the speedo head that has broken. If so replace the cable and your back in business. If it is the head you can get them from your local recycle yard.
