Re: 2002 passat alarm fault
You have to activate the interior senor switch which if i remember right is on the drivers pillar near the seat belt..you can have it code read by someone who does diagnostics and they will tell you the last alarm source ...could be anyone of them get it checked and stop guessing..

Hello, sounds like you need a new battery. As the battery goes flat the alarm senses it and sets off the warning system. Try changing the battery first and test it during the day. Also check to see if there is anything draining the power. You may also be able to adjust the alarm settings manually. Failing that, the alarm may need replacing. I hope I have helped.
sounds like the rear door sensor is kaput.all doors need to be shut before alarm will stabilise/you can leave the car open as if you dont have the key(with the correct code)the car is dead/immobilised.not even hot wiring will start car....
ok....the problem is the rear washer pipe has blown of in the tailgate where it connects to the motor,it happens when you operate the rear washer when it is frozen.the connection is fairly weak and cant cope with pressure build up.in both cases you need to remove the tailgate trim, reconect the pipe and dry out the catch as that has a micro switch in it that operates the warning light for tailgate open and the alarm.it is shorted out with water hence the false alarming and warning light on........if you pop the bonnet but dont open it that will stop alarm from arming as temp fix,but dont forget to shut it before you drive off .hope this helps, please rate this ,thx
Hi, you will need to get someone with vag diagnostics to plug your car in. Someone with vag-com software.
If you were near me we can do it.
Your system probably just needs reset as this is usually the case for a lot of our customers that come to the garage with VW car alarm problems.
Once the faults are read then saved & the car cleared of all logged faults the system should be 100% unless that there is a fault in the system that will show up again.
A local dealer should have your car diagnosed in 15mins & faults cleared so it should be no longer than half an hour.
Any longer & they are milking you of a few $/£ more. Unless they are doing a full electrics run (about 40mins on laptop max)
Hope this is of help.
The reverse lights not working is just a coincedence and probably just the reverse light switch (Cheap to change) The remote`s on the keys are quite a common fault to go . You can usually tell if the buttons feel hard and do not click .
