Question about Mitsubishi Endeavor

2 Answers

Have a 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor. I drives fine when it is cold. When it heats up and I reach a speed between 30-40 miles a hour it begins to shake. Once I reach a higher speed it stops shaking/shuddering It drives fine on the highway, it's the city driving with the stop and go that I have the problems. I just had the vehicle check over a week previous to the problems starting. Everything checked out OK. I went to a transmission dealer thinking this is what possibly was wrong. There are no code, nor did he find anything wrong. They stated that they do not see many Mitsubushi's with transmission problems. They stated that it could be internal, but not sure. They gave me a quote for a rebuilt for 3,200. I have never had a problem with the car until this week. The car has 87,000 miles on it. Hope this info helps

Hi,

You could try checking/replacing the Universal Joints (U-joint) and their attendant parts. Additionally, you may want to check the drivetrain from the transmission end to the differential. Incidentally, there were a couple of TSBs (Technical Service Bulletins) specifically addressing issues with the drivetrain.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Won't shift when cold

With the car warmed up and running, check the transmission fluid level. It may be low or needs flushed.

Does the catalytic converter has anything to do with the transmission

catalytic converter part is part of the exhaust system, torque converter part of transmission.if catalytic plugged car will only go 10 miles and hour, if you have torque converter problems car will stall out when you drive 30 miles and hour, when transmission goes in over drive, torque converter lock up.when you apply brakes torque converter suppose to unlock if not car will stall out when you come to a stop.

When driving and speed goes between 45 and 55 mph and when going up steep hill transmissions and car shakes when driving on straight away pass 55mph it stops shaking

I have the same problem, you need to change de oil transmission or try an additive for aut. trans that resolve the problem for a while, but is almost most better changing de oil.
