1 Answer

You can find the year of vehicle on the panel of the door when you open it...along with the weight etc...it's okay for your oil to smell like gas, mine does also. My oil pressure runs right in the middle of the gauge, tell me what your oil pressure normally runs after truck has warmed up.

Gas in oil

It is caused by to much fuel washing down the cylinder. Could be caused by injector stuck open, low compression on cylinders, or weak ignition system. I would put new plugs in and run it. See what one or ones end up extremely black or end up wet with fuel. This will help to narrow down the problem.

Smoking bad and bad miss and smells like gas in the oil on 1992 toyota paseo

I would look towards the fuel pump to see if there is any possibly way that it has failed and is leaking gas in to the oil. I have heard of that happening.

Another possible thing to check is ring wear, if your rings are to worn you will have blow-by which could cause gas in your oil.. Do or have done a compression test and see what your compression is. If the compression is low squirt a little oil in to the low cylinder and retest if the pressure comes up your rings are bad and that could be where your gas in your oil is coming from. If the pressure does not come up you have a bad valve. Seems to me that there should be no more then 15% max between high and low, any more then that needs to be repaired.

CHECK OIL PRESSURE SHOULD BE 20 - 45 PSI @1500 RPM OR 40 - 70 PSI @1500 WHEN ENGINE RUN ROUGH OIL LIGHT COMES ON YOUR OIL LEVEL LOW OR OIL TOO CONTAMINATED.YOU NEED TO CHANGE OIL FILTER AND OIL.LOOK AT THE COLOR OF THE ENGINE OIL,LOOK MILKY COOLANT GETTING INTO OIL.SMELL OIL IF SMELL LIKE GAS FUEL INJECTORS DIRTY CAUSING FUEL TO LEAK DOWN INTAKE WHEN ENGINE OFF.

The oil light is on. I check the oil stick and its has the recommended amount. When you step on the gas, the light turns off. I noticed it smells burned oil; must be from an oil leak that probably drips...

The dash light indicates oil pressure. When idleing the pressure drops too low and and light comes on. As it revs up, pressure increases.. light goes off.
You should go here and read about low pressure. Too much to copy and paste here.

The small leak onto the exhaust maybe more than just a nuisance, it is a fire hazard. Potential to catch fire. Clean off the COLD header and front pipe with a non flamable solvent cleaner. Also the engine case around the area. You may find the source of the leak.

Chevy '98 Z71 sat up for about year or so. Charged batt and started fine and run great for about 2 to 3 mins and cut off and now wont start. Looks to be getting fuel but have not done pressure check yet....

Sounds to me like you might want to either check that fuel pressure like you said you hadn't done yet but at minimum since you said it has been sitting for a year or so and if it hasn't been started, gas can turn bad if not being circulated every so often, I would replace the fuel filter. When you take the old filter off,pay attention to how the gas smells. It should smell like when you fill up your tank. But if it has this foul smell, believe me it will be a noticible smell, Then your gas has turned bad and you should drain it out and refill it with fresh gas. Good luck and hope this was a little helpful.

Gas smell in oil

The white strip of fluid on the oil is a slight amount of coolant getting into the oil . The water could be from condensation on the dip stick. I would drain the oil and just put regular recommended oil in it with a new filter. I would pull the spark plugs and check for any coolant or oil residue on them. Then drive the vehicle a little and check the performance. If there is unusual noise from the engine then or blue smoke from the tailpipe the engine has internal damage.

Assuming the engine performance stays the same. There could be a fuel injector sticking intermitantly.
