94 jeep grand cherokee oil pressure and engine temp?

I have a jeep grand cherokee with the 5.7 litter v8. I have been having trouble with the temp gauge going almost all the way to the right and then hear a burst of liquid and the gauge goes back down and then steadily builds back up to very hot again? Also now my oil pressure is going to 0. It will stay at zero almost the whole time im driving and sometimes will rise above zero for a few seconds? Any info on what im looking at would help thanks?

I'm guessing your engine is'nt making any tapping noise with the low oil press.
Your oil pressure sending unit is most likely the culprit.
Is your car smoking when the temp. goes up?
You engine could be air bound or thermostat could be opening too late (might need new one).
PLEASE DO NOT OPEN THE RADIATOR CAP WITH A HOT ENGINE.

Does 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee V8 have hydraulic lifters? I posted a question a few days ago regarding engine loud ticking which sounds like lifter noise. It doesn't have that deep sounding knock. I went to...

I would not believe any thing some parts store loser told you. Theres not a V8 built that doesnt have hydraulic lifters, unless its some fancy racin engine. It has hydraulic lifters, but unless you dont change your oil every 5k miles and/or use some cheap oil, there should be no problems. You should have a real mechanic look at it, and verify that you have good oil pressure. If it does, I would change the oil and use some MOBIL 1 and drive it, the oil will clean the lifters somewhat. If the eng has low oil pressure, that will need to be addressed.

No/low oil pressure, high engine temp

I think you have a bad ground on your engine gages...but, more importantly, have your oil pressure checked by a mechanic.  If it is indeed only 20 pounds the engine is sadly on it's last legs.
When you receive advice from this website you have to understand that without the item in front of us, we are only able to provide "a best guess" as to what the problem might be based on you description of the defect.  If you haven't described a clear and precise description of the defect you decrease the chances of an accurate reply.  Thank you.
