Column shift cars it will be at base on steering column I think. Floor shift cars it may be inside console at shifter. At some point this switch started being mounted on the driver's side of the transmission but not sure what year.
First, and cheapest, solution is to locate the starter relay and change that. The part should be available for less than $15. If it's sticking, no power will get to the starter and you won't be able to start the car. Also, check your fuse boxes for anything to do with the starter or fuel injection, and make sure the fuses aren't blown.
this is a easy one of course if you have at least minimum mechanic ability..firt disconnect one of the battery cables..next find the starter located at the front of the car..is a good idea to have the new one so you know how it looks like and where are the bolt located..next remove the positive red cable at the starter...the big one.., next the smallest wire...be careful not to brake the small wire this one is the ignition signal..next remove the the two bolts that hold the starter to the block ..same way to install it back...hope this was very helpful...
The starter is located toward the front of the engine compartment just above the cross member of the subframe. viewed from the bottom of vehicle. You need to disconnect the battery then remove the plastic cover over the flywheel end of the starter. Then remove the wires and the 2 bolts from the starter. Install is the reverse of the removal
dont know exsacly where is but should be where gear box meets engine and it sounds like the soliniod is stuck or gone or starter could be stuck in engine if manual put in gear and rock back and forward this may help relase it
