Question about 1996 Volvo 850
It sounds like the immobiliser is not being disabled. Are you opening the car doors with the key fob? Also, a common problem is the immobiliser is not reading the chip in your ignition key. There is an antenna ring around the ignition lock which reads this chip, however, the antenna connector can corrode and can be fixed by simply replugging it a few times. To get to the antenna, remove the lower cowling around the steerinfg wheel.
