Question about 1999 Honda Accord

1 Answer

I have a 1999 accord that the clear coat is coming off

We bought this accord brand new and the only problem is the paint. We took it to the dealership with another person with the same problem. Now as far as we can tell, this is a problem that honda has across the board with these year models, especially with green, blue or the rose purple color. They told us all they could do is give us 250 dollars in service money and that because of the year, that was it. That was even after the honda rep came. Our car sits in a garage except for when we drive it and it has been well maintained. Washed and waxed, I wash it every 2 weeks, wax it every 3 months. I went as far as thinking about Maaco painting the entire car. Can ya help?

I have the same issue. The estimate for painting my car is over $4600.00 and they want to 'give' me $700. I've contacted the district rep and the headquarters in California. Waiting on another call back from them as I type. Any suggestions on how to get Honda to stand behind their product?

    Good luck on yours.

I had the same problem with my black 1999 accord. I got tired of looking at it so I got it painted without contacting Honda headquarters about it. I would be happy to get any of my money back for the paint job. What would the procedure be to get them to pay for some of it?

Hi the only soloution to the top coat peeling is a complete repaint as the top coat is not bonding to the base coat due to bad preperation with is done before you start to paint its a bit like when you paint somrthing at home and can,t be bothered to clean and rub down the old paint work then when it peels yougot to do it again sorry no short cut here any one that says there is is going to do a shoddy job and it will peel again yates210456

I hate to say, being 2008 and have that many miles, from my experienced working many years at many dealership, your fighting against a brick wall, you can threat them with all kind of law suit, all it will come down to is repaint and that is the best they will do. I hate to say that they going to make you run around in a circle by the time they have exhausted you, you will settle just for a paint job. Those machine from factory, I wish I can say its an excellent job it does but you going to get some defect. In you case if you take it a good paint shop and highly recommended, than you will get allot better paint job than a factory and you shouldn't even have a problems with it and the new paint job will probably outlast other parts compair factory paint on your car. good luck..and I hope that help some

We have a black lincolin that the clearcoat is peeling on , what do we do

under coatm meaning under the vehicle? If so, Get some sprat on undercoating from a parts store and recoat where needed under yje vehickw. To be clearm we are not talking about the clear coat in the body paint, correct? Clear coat on body psint finishes can only be corrected by a body paint shop. Needs to be sanded and respayed. Good luck.

1999 Pontiac Grand Am -needs minor auto body repair.

Depanding on how bad the body damage is you may need to just go to a junk yard or ebay and get new doors. If its Just paint use acetone to get the other cars paint off.

I need to know the color code of my 2000 ford f150 radio

Look in the driver's side door jamb. There should me a sticker with the details of your truck.

At the bottom you'll see EXT PNT:

Mine says EXT PNT: SU

I believe SU is the the color code. You can probably order the paint from the dealer, or any good paint supplier can get you the equivalent.

Remember that paint can fade and change color over time, so if you're not a pro painter, blending the bright, new color will be very hard to do; you might as well just paint the entire panel or the whole truck if you're not already going to.
