There's a cable that runs from the door mech up to the top latch, need to pull down on this cable to release the top latch. Only way I could pull down enough to release was through the hole just left of the opening for the mech...cable is attached to the door frame with plastic tie wrap...pop this out so the cable is free in there and then just pry down with a screwdriver...make sure your pulling the handle at the same time. Once the door is open, it's easy to see what happening, most likely the cable is stretched out too much. I just ordered the part from Ford, the cable and top latch come as one part...about $60.

How do I take the door panel off of a 95 Ford F150 to replace the handle?

All there is is just screws around the outer sides of the door panel(3 on bottom). There is one located on the arm rest where the handle is. Then you need to take the screw out where you can lock your door and open your window ect... And just move the panel around until it comes off. You might have to pull the door opener out a little to get it through that hole.

Ignition and door locl cylinders need replacing

This repair is surprisingly easy, to replace the ignition lock cylinder, turn the switch to on and at the bottom of the cylinder on the column is a hole, insert a 3/16 punch in the hole and push up while turning the kel will dislodge the cylinder from the column,In order to replace the door lock cylinder you must remove the door panel to bgain access to the lock cylinder, diconnect the lock rod and the large spring clip and remove and replace the lock assembly and after installation test operation before reinstalling the door panel

99 ford f150 extended door doesn't open. It seems that the latch on top of the door is stuck or disconnected from the handle.

Remove the interior door panel this can be done with the door closed. peel back the moisture barrier, look inside the door and you will see a latch mechanism with two cables next to it, the top cable releases the top latch and the bottom cable releases the bottom latch, the top latch cable is probably not mounted to the latch (anchored) you will probably have to replaace it with a new one, then it should work fine. Hope this helps, let me know

Rear door won't open

You can get the panel off with the door closed. I just took mine off because of the same problem. The top portion is only connected with some clips inside the panel. Take the screws out of the rear side window first. The panel will pop off if you gently pry with a flatbar. under the panel are three screws. Remove the screws and lift up on the bottom panel. It comes right off. Find the cable that goes to the top latch and pull it. It should release and you can replace the door latch assembly. Mine were both broken and I am in the process of fixing them.
