Temp gauge goes around in circles while driving. Eventually it will turn completely upside down and then the gas gauge will move all the way over to "E" even though there is still gas remaining. What is causign this issue. Thanks

I had the same problem above but they said it was the water pump. Got the pump replaced now the engine light stays on and the car shuts off frequently while I'm driving. Can you help with this?

We had the same problem with our 2005 Impala SS, First we were told that the water pump was bad and had to pay $450 to get it fixed and then the temp gauge again kept going into the red and we were told we needed the instrument panel cluster replaced. Another $450! The more I check into this the more people I see having the same problem! I am starting to wonder if this is a manufacturer defect?

connector may be loose at the temperature sensor. connector should be snug on the sensor. If necessary, bend the terminals carefully to make firm contact. If this does not solve the problem, you may want to replace the sensor. Please let me know if you have questions, and thanks for using FixYa.

Temperture guage goes from 180 to 260 and bounces back and forth. The service engine soon stays on constant. The check guage light goes on and off when the temperture goes red line.

The check engine light is operating correctly as the computer reads a spike in temperature range in the engine. Your problem is more than likely a bad thermostat. I have seen times when a bad or loose radiator cap would cause the same symptoms. If the radiator cap has been removed recently it could be that it is just not on correctly. Make sure you check this only when your engine is cold. Hope this helps you out
