Question about 1995 Nissan 200SX

1 Answer

Key won't turn

I recently had a slight problem removing the ignition key from my 200sx 1995. Now when I put it in I cannot even turn it to start the car. I have tried both keys. This happened after I rolled the car down my driveway slightly when waxing the tires. I did not use the key and the steering wheel is now locked in a turned position. Can someone paleez tell me what's wrong?

You da man. Thank you very much. My wife has always hated this car, since she can't drive a stick and is looking for reasons to get rid of it. You gave her one less reason. Thanx!!!

Hi there,

Your car has a steering lock that clicks into place when you take the car key out of the ignition. This prevents thieves from being able to steer your car if they hotwire it. Sometimes the wheel is turned to just the right place to keep your key from being able to disengage that steering wheel lock. All you have to do is turn the wheel a little bit in either direction while you turn they key. and your done!

Broken key in ignition of 1995 nissan 200sx...Any helpful tips on removal? Im using dental tool picks and anything else small enough to fit...

I use crazy glue and some patient and work fine. Put a little on the other side of the broken key, push back into ignition and hold for a couple of minutes until dry, when removing pull fast, if fail try again. I have a Sprinter and the keys are prone to breaking already happen twice and both time I got it out with crazy glue.

Ignition problems. Sometimes the car will start and sometimes it won't even try. I thought maybe holding the gear shifter up will help and sometimes putting it in neutral will work when nothing e

From what you describe it sounds like the shift linkage needs adjustment. Was any work done on the transmission,or did you bottom out recently? I don't think it's electrical. Also don't keep a lot of keys on your ignition key ring this can wear the key slot and also cause the erratic starts.Good luck.

In my 1995 Nissan 200sx ser it doesn't wanna go in

Not sure about popping out of reverse. But 5th gear pop out is a problem on these, nissan never had a recall, but they offer a slightly altered version of the 5th gear that is available. Go read up at nissanforums there's a lot there, pics and all, even a petition to Nissan for everyone who's had the same problem, me included.

Getting a humming noise from front drivers side. when i try to turn ignition on. won''t start. have just changed alternator and also new starter. is the an electrical problem

Does it crank? Or just do nothing? How about that anti theft device you forgot about? How about the fuel pump? Got gas? Oil? Check this stuff out. Get it cranking, if it won't start, squirt some gas into the throttle, hope this helps.

check for a live feed to the low tension wire at the starter when a second person operates the ignition key. if no feed check fuses relays and then back of the ignition assembly. has it got an after market alarm fitted that may have gone faulty and has shut down the starting circuit. if so you need to find the wiring that it has been linked into and rejoin the original wiring back together.
