Question about 2006 Chevrolet Tahoe

1 Answer

2006 Tahoe My tailgate does will not unlock. It's currently in the lock position. I do not have a key hole, it's an automatic lock/unlock tailgate and it's stuck in the locked position.

Thanks for the response. I am wondering though, since I dont hear ANY noise whatsoever when I click the key fob, does that still mean the the plastic actuator is still broken? Is there a possibility of a blown fuse? maybe a different problem?

I have the same problem. The glass/door will not unlock. I have no idea where the liftgate panel is or how to check the fuse. If anyone can help me please do so.

You will need to remove the liftgate panel inside and manually unlock it the unlock acuator is made of plastic and has probably broke off very common

My tailgate locked while it was opened, now it wont close. How do I get it unlocked so I can close it.

If you have a key fob, double click unlock then open latch. You may have to use a screw driver to help the latch move to the open position

How does the 1999 Tahoe tailgate open?

The right side can be unlocked with the key, once opened, the left side can be opened. Mine, the left side requires me to push in slightly while ensuring the release handle is pulled to it's furthest point before it will unlatch. If the electrical contacts at the door frame are dirty, the door may not unlock when pushing the button up front thus requiring the key to be used in the rear door. If this is not the solution, the latch rods inside the door need adjusted which requires some mechanical expertise.

My 2006 Yukon liftgate does not lock with the other doors. Can someone help me? Thanks!!

It is probably the actuator inside the tailgate. I found this URL on internet http://www.chefseattle.com/blog/site-news/suburban-rear-liftgate-wont-unlock-how-to-fix/ Although not your problem, it will assist you in panel removal and actuator repair or replacement.
