How many liters of transmission fluid needs 2.4L engine? 2002 Mitsubishi Galant.

Hello, After you've replaced the trans filter and pan gasket, pour 3 Qts ATF into the fill tube and start the car. With your foot on the brake, move you gear selector from park to low and pack to park again. Leave the car running in park and check the trans fluid level. Normally after a service your transmission should take about 4 Qts, but it's easier to add more than take some out if you overfill it. Top it off to the bottom of the fill mark. As your transmission temp rises, your ATF will expand and your fluid level will rise. At that point it will be at the top of the fill line. Hope this helps, James Booth. PLEASE RATE THIS!!! :))

How to check transmission fluid & replace transmission fluid

Let your car get warm put in neutral and check the fluid.Underneath your car you have a pan where your transmission fluid is you will have too drop it too replace the fluid. Will have too take bolts out too do this. You will have too replace a seal or gasket that goes around top of the pan. It has too be put on right or you will be leaking fluid and will have too do it again. After you are done I would let the car run and put a piece of cardboard under the pan too see if it is leaking

WHERE IS THE TRANSMISSION FILTER LOCATED

You'll need to remove the pan and fluid from the underside of the transmission to access your filter. Also, keep in mind that you'll need to replace the pan gasket with a new one before reinstalling. Most, but not all, transmission filter kits will come with the new gasket included. Refer to manufacturer info for exact procedure and torque specifications.

Does my 2003 mitsubishi galant have a transmission filter if so where is it located

All automatic transmissions have a filter, which is located inside the transmission pan. To replace filter, you will need to remove the transmission pan. Before replacing pan be sure to remove any old gasket that may still be present on pan and the mount on transmission. Refill with proper type and amount of fluid...DO NOT OVERFILL

Transmission fliter

There could be two different locations for the filter.
1 could be located inside the Trany Pan.
the other could be located next to the Trany Dip stick.
If it is not next to the dip stick it may be located in the pan.
I have an '03 auto trany and bought the wrong oil filter. I have not yet repalced the filter. Don't know if it even has one in the pan.

Cannot locate transmission filter or instructions to replace

ok, here's the deal. there are 2 types of transmissions one with an external oil filter( kinda looks like the oil filter for the engine) and then there is the other type of transmission that was produced later on the 4 cylinder engines that doesnt have a removable filter. it does have a screen that is not servicable, it can only be replaced during the rebuild of the transmission. this design is supposed to be "back flushed" to remove all debris. Most good transmission shops have this type of system that pressureizes the system and does this.

If your gonna do this on your own, what you will need to do is buy 4-5 quarts of transmission fluid, drain the oil from the pan on the front of the engine, reinstall it, add the fluid, drive for 30 min, and then repeat the process.
