Question about 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan

2001 Grand Caravan no heat and occasional over heating.

2001 Grand Caravan has no heat and occasionally over heats. I recently replaced thermostat and added coolant but the problem progressively got worst. How can i tell if the water pump is bad? Is this something a i can fix at home?

Thank you,

Depends on the engine....a 2.4 requires the removal of the timing belt......on a 3.3 /3.8 the water pump is on the passenger side close to the fire wall.look for an orange or green coored residue in the vacinity of the pump....i would bet its leaking

Why does the heater on my 2002 dodge grand caravan only work in the back of my van?

change thermostat, how fresh is your 50/50 coolant, 50% water is what gives you heat, with thermostat, are all heat controls in correct position ? any obstructions in vent hoses, has debris fallen into defroster vents etc., are rad hoses in good condition ? weak hoses collapse and prevent flow. good luck

Dodge grand Caravan 1995 has been acting up with erratic heating since last month.

Could possibly need a new thermostat, the thermostat opens and closes depending on the heat of the coolant. maybe also check your heating core. as well as the quality of you coolant.

Have you checked the electric fan/fans on the radiator? It may also pay to check the sender sensor which starts and stops the fan/fans.This may sound a bit silly but is the rad.cap correct pressure setting and is the pipe to the expansion tank clear?...Maybe of some help.

Sounds like one of the vacuum doors under the dash are not working right check the doors and check for vacuum leaks in the hoses or the door actuators malfunctioning

While engine running, does the air feel warm to hot blowing through the radiator, if it does water is circulading, if it feels cold, replace thermostat.

Heat takes a long time to heat up. is it the thurmastat?

Age/ condition of vehicle ?
It could be the thermostat - could also be the thermostat switch turned down - how is the air flow from the vents with the blowers on full ?
