Question about 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix

1 Answer

Cd Player I have a 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP. I bought it used, and i can't figure out how to get the cd player to play though the speakers. It works, because you can see the counter going, and you can change songs. But i just can't get it to over take the radio and come through the speakers.

1997 pontiac grand prix gtp factory amp

Apparently it was available with and without. If you have a pair of sub speakers, then you have the amplifier. The factory radio was equipped with inputs for an optional multi-disc CD player so connecting an aftermarket player should be easy. You may have to add a 10A CD CHG fuse to the fuse block, ground the unit to a BLK/WHT wire, and connect the right output wire to connector 3 pin 10, the left output wire to pin 11, and the audio common lead to pin 12.

I have a 2000 grand prix gtp with a radio cassette...I want a radio cd player. I went to a junk yard and found a 2000 grand prix gt with a radio cd player....I bought it (the radio cd player), can i swap...

The wires will be the same. The problem is that the radio you bought may have theftlock on it. ( it would be printed on the front). If so you don't have the code for it. there is a slight chance that it will work, probably 1 in a 100. If it doesn't and the display reads LOC not LOCK, then you can take it to a dealer and they can recode it for you. Costs about 50 dollars here. Indy

All speakers in 05 Grand Prix GTP, have not any bass. All treble. Any suggestions for this? None of the fuses are broken under the hood or in the fuse holder inside the car. The settings on the stereo are...

Most radios on these are software driven This may be a software update problem. You will probably have to go to a dealer to see if there is an update they can download to your radio.

do you have a test light?your speaker wires should be four sets of matching color,dark/light blue,dark/light green,dark/light purple and one other matching set of colors. then there should be one black wire which should be ground.with a test light you can find your power and accesory wires. your power wire will always have power with key on or off,the acc wire will only have power when key on. i hope this will help.
