I have purchased an 05 model and dicovered a slight sign of water on the dipstick (like magarine) Can you help with the diagnosis please Don Clark

First off, youre a moron countrycurt0. rb13 does not have head gaskets. its a rotary engine. stick to your reciprocating engines and stay out rotary business. yes, it is normal to have water on the dipstick for the rx8. it will not damage your engine. if you are concerned about it, you can ask your local dealer to order you a kit for it. they have a kit that reduces the water greatly. but itll cost you out of your pocket. up to you.

I had the same issue with my RX-8. It was pretty scary since I know that in a regular cylinder engine this would mean BIG TROUBLE!

The dealer's head rotary mechanic told me not to worry about it and he was right.

If you have an RX-8 with the rotary engine, some water in the oil is normal when it gets colder outside. Condensation builds up in the engine. Run it hard a few times and the water should burn out and be removed by the PVC system.

This worked for me.

This indicates a head gasket leak, which allows coolant to migrate into one of the oil passages in the cylinder head. I must say unusual for an '05. You usually see something like this on an older car. What is your mileage? To confirm this, watch your coolant level closely. If it goes down even slightly w/ no sign of leakage anywhere (puddles, drips on the ground after parking) then the coolant loss is ending up in the crankcase. Also, the oil level may increase a bit. This is water foam caused by infrequent oil changes, poor quality oil (Quaker State, Pennsoil), or possible head gasket leak.

My car is slow in starting making white smoke when fires up smells a bit fuel y.it is also low in power when driving under 2500 revs.any ideas to this problem not believe to be maf or air sensor


White smoke is usually a sign that there is a problem with the cooling system. Blue smoke is fuel related.
Have the cooling system checked at a guess I would say this is water leaking into the cylinders which indicates a cylinder head gasket fault. A faulty cylinder head gasket would also cause slight loss of compression which could explain the loss of power. remove the oil filler cap on the engine if there is a sign of a light brown (cream) coloured substance (water contaminated oil) on the cap or in the cover then the head gasket needs replacing also check the dipstick.

1993 Mercury Tracer overheating after running 15 miles or so


possibly air trapped on engine side of thermostat-possibly. HOW TO BLEED: loosen coolant temp sensor. Start engine. As engine warms, slightly unscrew sensor to allow air to escape. Once a steady stream of coolant trickles out you're good. Let us know if this helps. Good luck.

sounds like a blown head gasket , have a compression check done, and check your oil dipstick and inside the radiator,, look for water droplets on the dipstick or a milky white sludge

Where is the trans dipstick for a 05 ford 500 AWD Limited Edition


For the 6 speed auto trans the dipstick is located behind the radiator support, to the left of the air cleaner box. The dipstick is a round yellow plastic towards the bottom of the transmission. The exhaust manifold is slightly above it, so be careful not to burn yourself.

theres no water, theres no coolant, no cracked block, theres no problem, it is normal for an rx8 (for that matter a rotary engine) to have some white foam on the dipstick. all it is is oil being thrown about by the rotors all over the chambers and foaming up, there is nothing to worry about, its just oil. it is more noticeable in 04-05 models and if you so desire you can go to a mazda dealership and the will install baffles into your oil pan or a new one that is updated to help prevent this because they redesigned it after 05.

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.

Condition/Concern:
Check Engine Light with a P0300 due to 2 - 4 cylinders misfiring on the same bank of the engine. DTCs P0171, P0172, P0174 or P0175 may also set for the misfiring bank.

Recommendation/Instructions:
If the published misfire diagnostic does not isolate the cause, perform the following suggestions as necessary:
  • Perform a fuel injector balance test for all 8 cylinders. If a fuel injector concern exists, it is possible to misfuel an entire bank of the engine, causing multiple cylinders on the same bank to misfire even though the root cause is a single fuel injector.
  • Inspect O2 sensor connections on the misfiring bank for corrosion or water intrusion. If water intrusion is found on the right bank, it may be due to the AC Evaporator Condensation dripping onto the O2 sensor harness. If this condition is found, reposition and shield the harness to prevent a repeat concern and repair the connections.
  • Check for excessive exhaust backpressure using the restricted exhaust diagnosis.
  • Swap the Position 1 O2 sensors side to side to see if the misfires move to the other bank of the engine. If so, replace the O2 sensor.
Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.

2003 Trailblazer loses power, I am getting codes P1271 and P1271p/d


#PIT3138A: 02-05 Chevrolet, Buick, Oldsmobile and GMC Mid-Sized Utilities Reduced Power Light On and DTC P1680 P1221 and/or P1271 Stored in the PCM - kw fan clutch SES light power MIL 4.2 LL8 - (Nov 1, 2004) 
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom described in the PI.
Condition/Concern:
Reduced power light on and DTC P1680 P1221 and/or P1271 stored in the PCM 
Recommendation/Instructions:
Monitor the 5V reference to the Accelerator Pedal Position ( APP ) sensor, circuit 1274, using Peak Min/Max on a Fluke 87. Refer to Si document 1454678 for the 5V reference schematics. Command the fan clutch control "on" with the Tech 2 at 50%. If when commanding the fan clutch on, the 5V reverence spikes to battery voltage, the concern is the 5V reference shorted to battery voltage intermittently inside cooling fan clutch. Replace the fan clutch to repair this concern. 

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance.
