Radiator fans not working

disconnect the temperature sensor the fans should start in a few seconds that would mean your relay is good usually the fans work if the engine is full of anti freeze so the temperature sensor can kick relay then relay starts fans.

The cooling fan is not working on my 1997 sunfire

Well, this is a pretty basic system, You have a temperature switch, a relay, fuses, and the motor. If you can find the fan relays and have a test light, remove the relay and verify that you have 12v going to the relay. Then locate the temp switch and verify you have 12v to it. If no one either of these check that the fuses are good. If the fuses are good and you have power to everything make sure your switch is working by using an ohm meter. unplug the switch and take a reading between the poles that are in the switch, start the engine and let it warm up and keep taking reading as it warms and look for the ohms to change, or get lower. you should end up with continuity at the switches set point that should be somewhere between 180-215 depending on your vehicles spec. If the switch is good you should be able to hear/ feel the relay click when you plug the wire back onto the switch when the engine is up to operating temp and the switch is active. If the switch does not close at temperature replace the switch, if the relay does not click when the switch is active replace the relay. If the fan still does not work then you might get some extra wire and make a jumper that can go from the battery to the plug on the fan itself and make sure the fan runs.
The way the system works is the temperature switch closes at a certain temp and sends a signal to the relay which closes and sends a strong 12volts to the fan motor. If your car has Air Conditioning your fan should kick on when you turn your air on as well, the fan aids in condensing the refrigerant in the AC condenser that is in front of the radiator. If the fan does not come on when you turn on your AC, if the vehicle is equipped, the I would start at the fan motor itself.

Can you switch your horn relay switch with you cooling fan relay switch because i think my cooling fan relay is burnt out, i can go without a horn until i buy a new relay for the fan

If it looks the same, it is. Go ahead and switch them, but try the horn after you do it. If the horn still works, the relay is not your problem.

Location of fan relay switch 1994 neon

The dodge neon fan switch is located on the front left inner frame behind the radiator, Take note this relay doesnt look like a normal relay, it looks like a module type, heres a picture of it. also take a look at the connector and make sure its not melting or rotted. the most common reason for a relay like this going bad is due to a bad fan, it draws to much, make sure the fan is good, replacing the relay with a bad fan will make the relay go bad in a few months, good day, hope this helps.johnjohn2_90.jpg

Why dot't the radiatop fans in 1998 nissan altima work?

There are two possibilities first there is a coolant temperature switch that activates the fan relay that could be bad, second the fan relay may be faulty. It is doubtful that the fan itself is bad. I would use a voltmeter on the OHM setting which looks like an upside down U to check for continuity after the motor heats up check and see if the coolant switch is ok by touching the two probes to the terminals on the switch the voltmeter should read zero after the motor heats up if not replace the coolant temperatur switch for the fan if the switch is good replace the relay for the fan.

Condensor fan motor inop - fuse good but replaced anyway - replaced relay. put 12 volts to motor and it worked. what activates the relay to send power to the motor ????

Either radiator fan switch or AC system fan activate relay. Check fan switch or look for AC fan motor fuse. Wiring diagram would help.
