Sounds like a flaky ground to me... I once had serious power fluctuations due to a transistor disconnecting from ground occasionally that hooked up to the fan blower under the dash in my old '88 van. I'm not saying that is the location of your fault, but if there is a flaky ground somewheres, that can cause all kinds of "weird" stuff with the electrical system...

Jaguar xj6 break light cancels signal

Replace the turn signal switch. Bad contact inside causing a crossing of the circuits. When the turn signal is applied it should open the brake light circuit allowing for just the signal to work. Doesn't sound like the switch is doing it's job.

Could have a shorted wire or bad relay. The relay is usually located under dash panel

Brake lights wont turn off

dont worry all you need to do is just change the 2 sensors found onlong top side of the break peddle. it be cheaper if you could get it from the junkyard from even a mecury contour or mystic, both cars have all the same parts as the cougar , try it i did.

ABS, Brake Light Are On

ABS is near the breaks when you take the tire off and the break pads you will see it it is very small part that is a sensor. mine went on my car when the guys were putting my breaks on it it really has not made to much of a difference in the breaks. they are costly so I just deal with the ABS light for now til summer

Malfunctioning brake lights.

Most likely a short in your break line. You might also check the brake switch, but I would think if the break switch was going, it you wouldn't even have the third lite working...

Brake lights quit working. All fuses and bulbs are good. There is a blue wire labeled "electric brake" hanging by the pedal switch. where is this supposed to go?

I have had this problem for over 8 months. Break light would work, blinker would not . . . then blinker would work, break light would not . . . turn headlights left break light would go out . . . FINALLY my 75 year old father figured it out !!!! It was the STOP SWITCH - even though it showed it was working - Please replace it anyway !!! It's only $14.00 for the part. Also the other part needing replaced was the Flasher Relay - $34.00 !! NOONE not even JEEP could figure out this problem !!!
