the trans filter is internal.raise & support vehicle.fluid is drained by removing transmission pan.this can get messy.trans pan gasket & filter are usually sold as a set.fill W/new fluid through dipstick tube.note that trans will not need as much fluid as is listed in specifications--torque converter will not drain.if you change your own oil;this is the next step.
THIS IS VERY COMMEN IN FACT JUST ABOUT EVERY SINGLE 3.1AND 3.4 AND 3.8 EVER MADE BY CHEVY LEAKS AT THE LOWER INTAKE ALL OF THEM AND USEALLY STARTS AT ABOUT 50000 MILES THE PARTS COST ABOUT 300.00 AT THE DEALER FOR NEW GASKETS AND COOLENT AND SEALENT ALL THE PARTS YOU WILL NEED THE PROBLEM IS ITS ABOUT A SIX HOUR JOB SO THE LABOR KILLS YA BUT IT IS ALOT OF WORK BUT THE GOOD PART IS THERE IS NO NEED TO REMOVE THE PUSH RODS ON A 3.8 LIKE YOU DO ON A 3.4 I CAN GIVE YOU THE STEPS IF YOU LIKE BUT THIS JOB IS BEST TO SEND TO A MECHANIC AS IT HAS A LOT OF LITTLE THINGS THAT MUST BE DONE OR YOU CAN MAKE A BIGGER MESS THEN YOU GOT ALREADY... Depends on what engine is in each of the vehicles. Assuming that the 1992 Park Avenue and 1995 Buick Century both had similiar engines (both being a V6), then they would both be equiped with the 4T60E transmission and you should have no problems interchanging them. Any differences (if any) in the wiring or valvebodies can easily be changed from one to the other and will be fairly self-explanatory.
Front of car on jackstands,drop pan(need to catch about 7 quarts or fluid).I always remove all the 10 MM bolts on the small side,then loosen th big side to contain the mess....You will proboblhy want to replace the filter while your at it,since a filter kit usually comes with gasket....around 30 bucks then do not overtighten new gasket...good luck...Lee
