Question about 1999 BMW 318 ti

Coolant level Hi My bmw318ise 1999, last few days water in the radiator keeps dropping after few miles, radiator sign comes up, once you fil it up with water it ok, it keeps happening 2-3 time a week. Please give me a sign, what causing it. Jalal

Put new rad in bmw 316i water level stays but left hand side hose stays cold tried to bleed it no air in system

One of two things, it is either leaking out somewhere, which you should be able to see puddles on the ground or while its running open the hood to see if its leaking out on your motor, hopefully its only a radiator hope or something, this is the cheapest fix. 2. It's burning out internally in your engine, if this is the case you should notice white smoke out of your tailpipe, bad news is if this is the case, its going to get pricey fast because that would indicate a bad head gasket or cracked head.

How do you put radiator in 1999 hyandai accent


1) Drain radiator by removing cap, and bottom radiator drain bung or bottom hose.
2) Remove top hose.
3) Disconnect the radiator fan's wiring and any temperature sensor wiring if fitted.
4) Remove radiator retaining clasps
5) Disconnect radiator bottom hose.
6) If fitted with an auto box, then remove automatic gearbox oil pipes (Underside)(you might wat to clasp these so they don't leak oil everywhere)
7) Remove radiator expansion bottle feed pipe from top of radiator.
8) Ease out the radiator. If the radiator fan is getting stuck or caught up, then drop the radiator back down and remove the fan first after disconnecting from the radiator body.
9) With new and old radiator placed side by side on a soft surface, change across any components from the old radiator, which didn't come with the new one. These may or may not include such things as: cap, fan retaining screws or clips, bottom radiator seating rubbers, rubber fan shrouding, temperature sensor, top and bottom rubber hoses.
10) Rebuild by reversing the above instructions. Apply silicone pipe sealant to top and bottom hose locations. Make sure you clean and/or replace any heavily corroded metal pipes which connect to the radiator. (Now is also a good opportunity to replace the thermostat to be on the safe side)

11) Fill system with a fresh 50/50 water/antifreeze mix, flush out and refill expansion bottle. Just before you refill the system, turn the interior heater setting up to maximum heat, but do not start the vehicle.
12) Top radiator up to max. Gently massage the top radiator hose to help eliminate air from the system.
13) Once filled, start the car. Pay attention to the temperature. Keep topping up the radiator as bubbles come around the system and the coolant level drops. At the point no more bubbles appear, close off the radiator with the cap. Allow the engine to reach normal operating temperature. If the weather is cold you may want to hold the engine at around 2,500 revolutions to help build heat faster. Keep it running until the radiator fan kicks in, then let it idle for a couple of minutes.
14) Stop the engine and let it cool.
15) Once cool, open the radiator cap and top up again if level is low.

16) Road-test the vehicle. After returning check again for any leaks.


Running the car for the first few days after radiator replacement, check the radiator level and expansion bottle level every day for the first two or three days. This level may drop slightly as any trapped air pockets are pushed out while running. Also, it is possible that any small leaks may begin after adding fresh anti-freeze to the system. If you begin loosing fluid over these first few days, then re-inspect your work and run a cooling system pressure test.

Raise the car front end as high as possible with a floor jack, fill the coolant tank to the top, run the engine until it reaches just short of overheating, shut it down and run water over the radiator, this will burp the air out. Repeat as needed. Don't let the coolant recovery tank run dry during procedure.

How do i put water in my radiator?


you need to replace thermostat and radiator cap.look under hood around engine compartment.look for a radiator cap near radiator,add 50/50 antifreeze and water to coolant system to bring up boiling point.pure water will cause engine run hotter because water evaporate away,remove radiator pour coolant in the radiator until coolant stop dropping in the radiator now some vechicle pour coolant in the coolant overflow jug,pour coolant until coolant level stop dropping and the coolant level stay at cold full mark.start engie let idle few minutes, watch coolant level in radiator if coolant start dropping add more coolant, when coolant level stop dropping put radiator cap back on let engine idle until both top radaitor hose and bottom coolant hose get warm turn off engine wait until it get cool then take a large rag slightly open radiator just a litle at a time to keep from getting scaled.once radiator remove add more coolant if low,put radiator cap back on start the engine let it idle watch the temp gauge if temperature gauge going hot zone stop engine wait until cool then add more coolant,keep doing this until engine stop overheating going into hot zone and coolant level stop dropping,make the coolant overflow jug coolant level stay at full cold mark, dont let jug run empty if so air will get in the coolant system causing engine to overheat.

Heat is not working - coolant was low so filled it.... problem here... heard something about an air pocket


If you dont have an external coolant leak anywhere under your hood that has shown up on your driveway it could be the intake manifold or the headgasket leaking. Also check the thermostate to solve the heat issue.

WELL YOU NEED TO DRAIN COOLANT LEVEL BELOW THERMOSTAT LEVEL.YOU HAVE TO DISCONNECT MAF SENSOR LOOSEN AIRDUCT 2 LARGE CLAMPS LOOSEN REMOVE 4 SCREWS TO AIR FILTER COVER LIFT UP REMOVE COVER. THEN REMOVE AIR FILTER AND HOUSING, FIRST DISCONNECT MAF SENSOR.YOU HAVE TO DISCONNECT THROTTLE CABLE AND SHIFT CABLE.YOU HAVE TO DISCONNECT REMOVE THROTTLE BODY COOLANT HOSES DISCONNECT IDLE SPEED CONTROL VALVE CONNECTOR AND DISCONNECT TPS SENSOR CONNECTOR. THEN REMOVE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY. When i first start the car a message appears that says ENGINE COOLANT LOW. CHECK SOON. When you check the coolant(AFTER IT HAS COOLED) , it shows to be exactly where it is suspose to be. 1999 bUICK...


The low coolant switch may be stuck, and you may even have to replace it. Last time I replaced one it was in the radiator. Also make sure the level is good in the radiator when cool.

2000 chevy lumina. Is fan supposed to come on when car started


no fan comes on when engine cold start up .but it will come on when you turn on air conditioning or defrost on .if engine idling a while when temp get 190 degree the fan will kick on.if over heating you got air in system .wait until cools check coolant add more .crank engine let it idle few. minutes when start warming up turn off engine wait a while before removing radiator cap so you wont get scald.add more coolant .crank it again starting warming up turn off engine wait a while .add coolant .keep doing this procedure until your coolant stop dropping off .if you do this more than 6 times you got a leak some where.check crank level for signs.if oil level higher than normal.if everything looking good.when engine cool make sure add coolant to over flow jug cold level mark.

Bmw318 1998 timing chain


you have to loosen the adjuster first that takes the slack out of the chain. you then have to remove bothe the cam sprocket and the crank sprocket at the same time . you do this by removing the index bolt and the remainder of bolts. this should do the trick

1999 chevy cavalier keeps overheating, changed the thermostat, radiator and hoses are ok what else could it be the waterpump isnt leaking.


these cars are notorious for that.It needs to be "burped" when your car is cold then open the resivoir(coolant).Start the car .As it warms you will notice the tank level will rise.Do not let it boil over!! when it starts to get warm then turn the car off and watch for bubbles in the resivior.add more coolant as the bubbles come out .repeat until no more bubbles come up.The problem with these cars is that an air pocket forms in the water pump.
