I do have a truck F150 -1987 but do not know if it is 1/2 or 3/4 ton.,how can I find out?

Dual tanks sounds like one of them is letting air into the line. Had the same problem and when one tank was empty it would let air in to the line making the truck stall out and not start. Had to keep at least 1/2 tank in the one. Might want to change out the tank switch over.

Problems 1 & 2 - Pump/Float assembly.
After 22 years, things get rusty and seize, since there is a double fuel system problem, the most likely culprit is in the tank, and usually after this many years (not always miles), its the pump and float.
As for 3. 22 years of wear, tear and rust. Trace the brake lines and find the wet spots. As the braking system is a sealed system, its quite dangerous to continue to operate a vehicle with some form of puncture or leak, as it can cause air locks and cease functionality of the brakes. There is a good chance that somewhere along the lines there is a worn seal, line or connector that is leaking. Follow the lines from the master cylinder, find the wet spot and replace the connector, seal or line that is worn as needed.

it is best to remove the pwr st. pump and vaccum pump assy as a unit which is held to the front cover w/2 15mm head bolt and a support bracket on the bottom bolt next to the block @ the pwr st pump. and disconnect all lines. get the seal kit and replace them @ this time. if you don't and just replace the pump you will probably develop an oil leak where the shaft meshes w/ the adapter.
