Question about Buick Park Avenue

1 Answer

1997 Buick Park avenue, Cranks and runs great say 19 out of 20 times., then you get in and it just barly turns over like a dead battery or one time it just simply said, "Click". Jump it off, drive home and it is good for another couple of dozen cranks??? Had Auto Zone check and they said Battery, Alternator and starter appears OK, but there was a power drain of 0.70 at in of there test, with key out and door closed.

even though you have taken and had alternator checked, you may very well have a weak voltage regulator in the alternator that is not detected by their tester. Have alternator checked at a place that rebuilds and repairs alternators and starters...

1997 buick park avenue does the odometer turn over

you can reset these odometers and it will go back to 0 after 999,999 miles but if you find a car running after that many miles id be highly surprised anywy the procedure isnt easy and it carries high penalties , most individual car sellers cant do it and most large dealers wont because of the illegalities involved

Car want start

If it cranks and then die, the typical resistor trick won't work. Same problem as I had on mine and this is the only thing that was able to save it: http://newrockies.ca/vatsbypass

Buick park avenue 1994 check engine soon wants to die

Clean the battery cables. The cam sensor magnet on the timing gear is most likely defective. This would require the timing cover to be removed to fix.

1997 park ave battery dies over night

I just posted my experience in another place on this site but on my 1992 PA the accessories relay stuck closed. This relay is the one that allows you to listen to the radio etc and keep things on until you open the door then all shuts off. When it is stuck closed accessories keep running until your battery drains dead. The relay was replaced and all worked great.

To replace the serpentine belt on a V6 3800 you must jack up the motor and remove a motor mount. You must then use a breaker bar with a socket (13/64") and pull it toward the front of the car to release the belt tensioner. Put the new belt on, tighten it, put the mount back on, and lower the jack.
Driving without a belt can cause the motor to overheat, will cut power steering, and will not recharge the battery, so you should probably get a tow
Good Luck
