Not likely possibly the cover for torque converter may be loose. if rattling coming from pass. side may be belt tensioner/or water pump. to check shut engine off remove serp. belt check water pump pulley for play by wiggling back an forth do same with belt tensioner. check trans fluid level while on level surface engine warm&running tranny in park. some gm cars have had problems with crank shaft pulleys making rattling noise also.

I had a 92 that suddenly lost power and I could not keep up with freeway speeds. It turns out the mass air flow sensor failed. When it fails it has a "Limp Home" mode that allows you keep the car moving and not leave you stranded.

I've poured B12 into many transmissions and fixed the problems need to drive a while B12 will evaporate when it gets hot but it will clean out tarnish which will cause these kind of problems I would change any external and internal filters after doing this

My 1992 Pontiac Bonneville died for no reason!

Not likely heat related

I would guess your fuel pump is worn out
& occasionally stops from mechanical or
electrical issues

You could check the pressure with a gauge
attached to fuel rail but on a 1992,I'm guessing,
again, that it is the original or second pump

You may just have to replace it to solve the problem

Check freon pressure while running on low side. Low pressure will cause compressor not to engage.
