Change the oil. Car that don't go on long drives usually get moister in the oil from heating up and cooling allot if you drove long drives the oil would burn off the moister. In town driving car should have there oil changed more frequent then car that drive long trips.
You will need to have the trany checked it may be low on fluid, theres a way of checking the fluid, i would have a job check it or if it a standard shift then the clutch may be slipping and need to be replaced but if its automatic trany then i would have the fluid checked i have run into this problem a few times and it was due to a leak a small leak in the trany oil and when the fluid got low the trany would slip and in some cases not shift or move. hope this is helpful, good luck.
that sounds like the horn contact ring is faulty. this is mounted underneath the steering wheel and basically conducts the voltage through to the horn switches. had quite a few with the same symptoms and would check this part first. hope this helps
LISTEN VW TRANSMISSION ARE VERY COMPLEX DO NOT TRY TO FIX IT YOUR SELF GET AN EXPERT IN GERMAN TRANSMISSION AND DO A TRANSMISSION SERVICE .OR FLIUD CHANGE. DEALER WILL SAID U DO NOT NEED IT THAT IS SEAL DA..DA.. DA.. JUST GET A SERVICE INCLUDE FILTER CHANGE AND FLUID THAT OIL IS EXPENSIVE AND ONLY VW SALE IT
hello sandra;im going to take you through some things that will solve your problem;;1get the coolant levels checked. 2;A 20 minute commute will not give your engine time to warm up.3 the vw jetta is one of the best you will buy for realiablity,so i would not suspect any thing other than low coolent levels if this fails to solve your problem;then take it to a vw dealer.let me know how you get on.adrian
Get some graphite or lock oil and put it into the ignition. This should help alot,Also if you try to turn the steering wheel while turning the key it will releave the pressure on the wheel lock and this helps as well (when the wheel is locked, you should only be able to move it a little bit in one direction)
