Starter problem 2004 taurus

Most of the time when I go to start my car it makes a screeching sound, but will not start. It's been hooked up to the computer, and nothing was found to be wrong and I've since had a new starter installed and it's still doing it, in fact, it seems worse. Any suggestions?

My 2004 Ford Taurus remote starter will not start the car. All other remote options are working. How ever if I have the key in the ignition and press remote start it will start. Please help.

The problem here is the remote start system is not giving out the correct transponder code to the security system, this locks out the starter. As to how you program the remote start I have no clue as to what you need to do.

Replaced motor in it now it's making a grinding or screeching noise near the starter and flywheel

unfortunately it appears that the method of replacement was not followed as per the workshop manual and now the gear box has to be removed to correct the error

Are you saying the serpentine belt is screeching after the engine starts, or the starter is screeching when you are cranking the engine ?

2004 Ford Taurus. Installed after market Prestige starter. model: APS-620N. Door lock and unlock work. Trunk works. Parking light do NOT light up when programming or locking/unlocking doors. Not receiving...

If this problem started just by changing the starter, either there is a wire unhooked or somehow switched, I do not think the starter would cause that as long as it was the right starter. It should have been identical to the old starter.

2004 Tauraus stalled while driving.get one hard crank when trying to start.Battery ok starter tested ok

Sounds like you need the alternator tested.Try jump starting it and if it stays running with the other car hooked to it but not when you take off the booster cable then you need an alternator.

Starter motor cranks well but emits a horrible screeching noise as it comes to rest after starting engine.. I suspect the bushing in gearbox housing. Anyone experienced this prob. Regards Warren

actually this sound to me as to be the kick out bearing on the starter itself. after it has been on the car for a few years they tend to get moisture into the outer bearing on the starter this washes the grease out over time and it makes a horrible growling, screeching, or rubbing noise after starting. this starter should be replaced in the near future if not it will seize up and just click when trying to start the car....... I hope this has been helpful.

Grinding Starter

Does it make the sound like you are trying to start an already running engine? My 05 did that about once every 3 months since I bought it new. I put 40k miles on it and it never changed, dealer could not reprodice it.
