Actually I found out it was one of the relay switches in the fuse box under the hood!

while driving to work this morning my headlights, tail lights, and dash lights went out. Is this due to a bad micro relay in the fuse box under the hood? Perhaps #19 or #20 which are both listed as automatic light control?

Check your fuse there could be a wire for the lights on the factory radio touching the aftermarket radio.

I have a 2001 potiac grand prix with no tail lights the same bulb work turn signal an brake lights they r fine ive checked all fuses and replaced all bulbs even replaced the light switch still no tail

no, they are not the same. The multifunction switch is on the steering column and controls wipers, turn signals, and hi/low beam headlights. Dash switch is on the dash and generally turns lights on and off and frequently also controls brightness of dash lights. I had a Camry that had the same thing happening...ended up having a toggle switch put in to control the tail lights...fixed the issue.

Dash lights and tail lights don't work

Lights and electrical circuits are sometimes in pairs so that you notice something is wrong (tail lights and dash). On a '90 merc grand marq., that would be fuse #4,the 15 amp blue one, in the panel next to your left foot. If you are lucky,it
just failed from age. If you are not lucky, there is a short in the system containing
the dash, tail, parking, side marker, license lamps and trailer tow relay if equiped.I had to replace the push/pull main light switch which was shorted. If you are lucky, just replacing the fuse in the panel will do it. Referance Grand Marquis Owners Manual for fuses and function.

Dash and interior lights do not work

Dash lights are on the same fuse as the tail lights. Dash lights not working is an indication that the tail lights are not working. The first thing to check is that the tail light fuse is not blown. Most of the time replacing the tail light fuse will restore both the tail lights and the dash/interior lights. If this is not the case you may have to trace the wires and look for a broken or unplugged wire in the harness.

I have an 01 ford Powerstroke and the dash lights and tail lights dont work. i just replaced the headlight switch today. Still have the problem

Dash lights and tail lights are commonly on the same circuit. When your dash lights go out, you know you don't have any tail lights. Pull out the owner's manual and figure out which fuse (or fuses) are for the tail lights.

My tail lights and dash don't work.brake lights&turn sigalswork.all fusses are good.

The dash lights are wired together with the tail lights so you will know when the tail lights are not working. If you are positive the fuse is good (tried a new one in the socket) then you have a bad wire. Using a multimeter test the hot wire from the fuse block to the tail lights. It it is good then check to be sure the ground wire(s) are good and making a good connection to the frame.

2001 ford explorer tail light and dash board lights are out

The dash and tail lights are on the same circuit. Ck your fuses under inst or tail, More than likely it is a fuse. If the new fuse blows, let me know.

I have a 1999 pontiac grand am and the tail lights and the dash lights do not work. I have checked all the fuses and bulbs. I discovered that the connector for the reverse lights on the bottom of the car...

THIS WOULD HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THE DASH LIGHTS... WHEN YOU TURNN ON YOUR PARKING LIGHTS YOU SEND POWER STRIEGHT FROM HEADLIGHT SWITCH TO THE DASH...NEED TO RECHECK PARK LIGHT FUSE...IF GOOD THE BAD HEAD LIGHT SWITCH SOUNDS MOST LIKELY

Tail lights and instrument panel lights dont work

The Dash and Tail lights connect to the same fuse in most cars. if the fuse is okay, check to make sure the tail lights and/or dash lights are properly grounded. all bulbs could be blown...but highly unlikely.
