I assume it is 2wd. you will need to jack motor up and remove oil pan. you will be able to get to pump then be sure you put drive rod back in it runs down from distributor. what is your problem?

My 88 f 350 goes in reverse when output it in low gear, drive does nothing. I pulled the valve body and im wondering if the gear selector could have out of line or anything else.

No, this sounds like the pump is bad or the clutches are cooked, check the oil pressure and see if the pump is pumping enough pressure i know it has rev but i would bet the cltuches or the bands are gone,

What it sounds like is either you have some contaminents in your fuel system, i.e., the fuel filter is plugged or your screens are clogged in the gas tanks. Also....your fuel pump may be taking a dump!
