Question about 1996 Mercury Mystique
I need to know what to do to change the lowbeam headlight bulb on a 96 Mercury Mystique?
Make it easy on yourself and remove the screws that hold the casing to the car and remove the whole light casing... you'll have a hard time otherwise. there should be three - I have a 98 but similar.
they use 9005 and 9006 bulbs the low beam usually has a cap on the bulb but some are available without
your low beam and highbeam are similar and both rotate ccw to remove an cw to install. if they are not in correctly the bulbs will not aim correctly... learn where they should line up and make sure the low beams are lower than the high beams should be a flat line on the top of beam on wall

Open the hood
at the rear of the headlight, is a wire harness
pull it off the bulb base, by the connector
Two common bulb retainers, a lock ring, and wire clips
unscrew lock ring anound the bulb base/or/unclip wire retainer clips
withdraw the lock ring/or/swing aside retainer clips
replace bulb, ensure it is located in the notches in the mount,do not touch bulb glass with fingers, oil will crack the glass as soon as it heats up
reinstall lock ring/or/clip retainer clips
