Yes it is the flex pipe. I had the same problem a few years back. Cut and replaced a section of the exhaust and installed a new flex pipe.

I encountered a similar problem yesterday!!! The exhaust rusted and broke off at the flexpipe connection again. All of a sudden the exhaust is VERY loud. Time to replace it again.

YOU have a broken flex pipe most likely when you put in gear motor shifts and causes gap allowing exhaust leak.

The transmission shifts fine in drive, but when going through the geers, Park works, Reverse acts like park, Neutral acts like drive, Drive works, 2nd and 1st work. Any Ideas?

Hi Ken:
Sounds as if the linkage is out of adjustment. Did something specific happen to cause this to start to occur? If you look at the linkage, there will be some point where you can shorten or lengthen the rod that attaches to a lever on the transmission. One way will make it better, the other will make it worse.

1998 land rover discovery transmission makes loud banging noise when shifting from pari to drive?

Tons of possibilities here (transmission, differential, motor mounts, transmission mounts....), so I'll ask some debug questions to help narrow it down. Does it make the noise when shifting into reverse? Also, does it make the noise only when shifting from park, or also when shifting from neutral (into drive or into reverse)? Did the noise start as an occasional, softer noise and get worse over time, or did it start suddenly? Does the vehicle lurch at the same time as the noise? What happens when you go from Reverse to Drive, or vice versa? Has any work been done recently (brakes, tires, alignment, suspension, transmission)?

95 isuzu Rodeo 2w/d starts in drive instead of first, help! Trans fluid is fine, minor trans line leaks, 192,000 miles, happend after towing a 20ft bayliner boat, All Dash lights went out break and Rr...

I don't understand what you mean by starting in drive instead of first. It should not start in any gear other than park and neutral.
as for the lights , you may have blown a fues or have a dead short from the trailer pigtail you used for pulling the boat.

My MINI '03 is screwed up

have you checked transmission oil?
I am not familar with MINI's but it sounds like either your transmission oil is low or is too thick (cold weather could do that) that the computer is safe gaurding you for destroying your transmission or you computers messed up.

Recommendation: get the car to a shop ASAP before you do serious damage.
