Gear no being able to select

I bumped into another car as i was reversing. the impact wasn't much. just a little. since then, the car starts but won't move. it won't select a gear. i called in a technician and he said it has to do with the gear code. am so confused.
secondly, the reverse sensor has been bad for sometime now. any time i put it in reverse gear, the sensor starts beeping immediately whether an obstacle is close or not.
thirdly, the lights on the dashboard are always on. the park light, abs light, reverse light always come on as soon as i start the engine and never goes off. the milleage guage and fuel guage ain't working. thank you

Sounds to me like all of your problems are electronic, i would definitely recommend this car to go to the shop to be checked out.

Why will it not go into 5 gear,It will go in 1 thru 4 but when you let out on clutch, truck won move, it goes dead. Truck will roll in neutral ........ Thanks for any Help

Are you sure that you are selecting FIFTH or are you selecting REVERSE? A "smart" car will kill the engine if you shift into REVERSE while moving forward, to prevent you from breaking the transmission.

Transmission won.t go into reverse all other gear selection normal

something going wrong in reverse .. you need to go to auto trans mechanic to check internal
components...hydraulically failures.. or internal components damaged..

I have a 93 Toyota pick up 4x4 standard transmission. Sometimes when I go to reverse, there is a grinding noise, which won't let me shift into reverse. I then need to turn off the vehicle, then engage....

Could be the clutch.
Reverse and first do not have gears that line up like the others do. So if the clutch is not disengaging all the way, they will grind.

Is it going in gear, but vehicle just doesn't move, or you can't get it to go into the "reverse" or "5th" gear location? If you can't get it to go into the selected area (reverse or 5th gear spot) then I would guess you you will need to pull the top cover off, and slide the "fork" back onto the shaft. I have seen this happen before. I guess if my response wasn't helpful, I would elaborate a little more about your problem.

Car only starts in reverse and only drives in neutral

Sounds like a cable to the transmission is not adjusted up right, and/or the neutral safety switch is not adjusted right, if this applies to your Toyota Corolla.

I have had luck using a 3 foot breaker bar with a 1/2 in. drive. fit correct size socket on bar and place onto crank bolt with handle on side of crank rotation, then bump the starter. although not good for starter gear, this has worked as last resort on a number of occassions. be careful around bar as backlash can be hazardous.
