Hyundi Elantra J3 - Overfueling

I own a 2001 Elantra J3. Suddenly overnight a problem occurred. It refused to start due to no spark. First thought was coilpack which i replaced with o success. During various trail and error exercises i replaced the crank angle censor. This fixed the spark problem and the car started. Now i had a new problem. The mixture was very rich and when cold, the car starts first turn. But when hot, the car refuse to start due to excessive fuel. Please, if anybody can help me, i would appreciate it, because i have run out of ideas.

Try replacing the temperature sensor switch it located on top of the cyl head it is about the size of a pencil diameter wise about inch and half long if this is bad it will trat the fuel injection like it is 10 below outside even though the car is hot the sensor will probably have only one wire going to it

You need to give symptoms. For example, "I turn the starter motor, engine turns, but it won't start, and I smell gasoline odor." Diagnosis, you're giving too much throttle, the spark plugs become wet & saturated, so it won't start until the spark plugs are dry.
So do you mean it was running, and suddenly stopped in traffic, it was parked overnight and starter motor refuses to turn, or starter motor turns, but refuses to start ?? We need SPECIFIC symptoms if you want diagnostic feedback from this website.
You said "cars" in plural, so two or more cars all broke down at the same time? Maybe you have enemies or someone who wants retribution payback for an argument in recent past, so he sabotaged all your cars? Like in the last 3 or 4 days, or last night? When people are fuming, they exact retribution shortly. The more time goes by, they cool down and decide not to take revenge.

My daughter has a hyundi lantra 2000 or 2001. last night her remote on her key did not unlock her door so she used the key. My Q. does any body know if there is an over ride button for the engine...


if it's a 2001 my info doesn't show the 2001 Elantra GTS as coming with an alarm. GT does have keyless/alarm. Are you sure its not just a keyless entry system? Test it by doing the following: Close all doors and sit in car, 'arm' the alarm with the remote, wait about a minute and open the door from the inside...if the horn starts beeping you have an alarm. If nothing happens, you only have keyless entry.
Anyway disarming a ETACS alarm system is not a option.

hi i believe these are fitted with a fuel quantity adjuster , if you locate that you might find the problem...hope this helped

REPLACE THE FUEL FILTER AND CHECK THE SPARK PLUG CONDITION, IS SOUNDS LIKE YOUR FILTER IS OLD AND PLUGGED OR IT GOT FLOODED DUE TO OLD SPARK PLUGS

is the shifting due to the transmision? or the engine? i had a friend who's car did something simular, diffrent car though and a older model. turns out, it indeed was the fuel pump, when they thought it was the tranny. try some Lucas for the transmission. if that dont help then i would let the mechanic drive it.

replace coil pack, or check fuel pump is working,worst case peplace ecu(engine management computor unit)check spark leads,and fit new spark plugs,discard all the ones in the engine ,thats in there,with new ones,,,,,,,
