I had a similar situation with my 88 new yorker. When I powered up the passenger window, it would go so far make a growling noise and stop. I had to put one hand on each side of the glass and push the window up and this would work only if I got the window up to the growling point. Turns out it was the window regulator tape which was cracked in the middle and I had to replace it. It works fine now.

The AC and power windows just stopped functioning yesterday, on my 1991 Chrysler Imperial. I don't see a fuse that has both functions associated. Any help would be great. Thanks David

Take a look at thse two and replace them:

Fig. 3: Relay and flasher module — Dynasty, New Yorker (1989–93), Fifth Ave. and Imperial

(This is for the power windows)

The fuse panel, which contains fuses and circuit breakers, is located behind the glove box door. Additional fuses are in the Power Distribution Center located near the left side strut tower in the engine compartment. Each item is identified on the cover of the Power Distribution Center.

There is an additional relay module (relay and flasher module) located to the right lower corner of the instrument panel (Dynasty, Imperial and Fifth Ave.) or behind the cup holder (New Yorker). A relay or flasher can be removed by pulling it straight down from the module.

Power window repair- window has dropped into the door- 1987 Chrysler New Yorker. Need manual to show how to remove door panel and repair it

The door panel can be removed by removing several screws. The panel can be pulled from its edges and you will feel where the resistance comes from and that will lead to the screws.

Inside door handle doesn't work (removing the driver side panel)

If you have power windows start by disconnecting your negative battery cable. Then you need to locate and remove the screws that hold your door handles in place (they may be hidden by snap in, or snap on clips). Once you remove the screws that hold the door handles, remove any wire connectors to the handles, if they're not power you will need a small hook (kinda like a knitting needle) to remove the window crank. A manual window crank is held in place by a clip on the base. Slide the hook behind the base and remove the clip. The door panel itself, is held on by snap in clips, and you will need a small pry bar to pull them from the door (try to gat as close to, or directly under the clips to prevent them from tearing out of the door panel). Once the clips are removed from the door, pull the panel upward to remove it from the door.

Install in reverse.

I hope this helps you, and I wish you luck on your repair.

How do I install a window motor on a 1989 Chrysler New Yorker

you have to remove the door panel, there will be 3 rivets holding the bracket to the door, you have to drill them out and the motor will be loose then. disconnect the motor from the window bracket, and put the new one in by using nut and bolts to remount the new bracket.

89 accord driver window will not go down

I've owned 2 '89 accords. You need a new power window motor. Let me guess... the window use to roll up/down REAL slowly, then quit working altogether. I replace these myself with junkyard parts, fairly easy repair (at least for most people) or you can have a shop do it but BEWARE the shop will VERY likely put in a used junkyard part rather than buy a new one from the manufacturer! Saves them money, they charge u for a new one, and the customer knows no better and next thing you know your "new" window motor is going out again. Like I said, fairly easy to do it yourself.. just take the interior door panel off and you'll see the working's inside.

Power window inop

The plastic strip in the window regulator track broke. It is replaceable by a qualified tech or if you are pretty handy. you can go to the dealer and get the strip. remove the door inner panel and expose the regulator and window by removing the clear plastic (put this back in when reassembling or you will hear alot of road noise and have trouble keeping heat in in the winter). if you can't get the part you can at least out the mindow up now and wedge something in it so you can get somewhere at least if it's raining out. When you get the parts from the dealer they can show you how it goes in as it is hard to explain but I will if you need me to. Good luck.
