My husband has locked his keys in the car a few too many times and what doesn't make sense is we have the button codes on the outside of the door that you can unlock it with. Is there a generic code for 2006 Ford Five Hundreds that we can use? It is not written in our owner's manual, and since we did not buy the car brand new, the dealership wants to charge us $100 to figure out the code!! It was a rental car before we owned it, so i believe the original factory code (if all the same) would still be the same.
There is a factory code on your car somewhere i will see if i can look up the location
there should be a white sticker on the rke module(remote keyless entry module)it is either a 4 or 5 number code. this is the factory code it will always unlock system. and is used to program your number in. I cant find the location of the module it is usually under the dash. here is how to program a new code after you get this.Enter the permanent factory remote keyless entry (RKE) keypad code.
Press the 1/2 button within 5 seconds to activate the programming mode. Holding the 1/2 button for more than 2 seconds after activation erases the stored personal code.
Within 5 seconds , enter the new 5-digit RKE keypad code. The door locks lock and unlock to confirm the new code is programmed and associated with the memory position 1 settings. Entering any new personal code automatically erases the old personal code.
Press the 3/4 button within 5 seconds to activate the programming mode. Holding the 3/4 button for more than 2 seconds after activation erases the stored personal code.
Within 5 seconds , enter the new 5-digit RKE keypad code. The door locks lock and unlock to confirm the new code is programmed and associated with the memory position 2 settings. Entering any new personal code automatically erases the old personal code.
Press the 5/6, 7/8, 9/0, 7/8 and 9/0 button within 5 seconds or allow the system to timeout to activate the programming mode.
Within 5 seconds , enter the new 5-digit RKE keypad code. The door locks lock and unlock to confirm the new code is programmed. Entering any new personal code automatically erases the old personal code
Under the steering column, there is a black fuse box you will need to undo the 3 screws that hold the fuse box up. It is easier if you undo the bottom dash trim under the steering column. Once you have undone the screws on the fuse box (leave the wires attached) pull the fuse box down and on the top side there is a sticker with your factory keycode
i found this whta they refer to is not a fuse box but the rke module

Remote Keyless Entry (RKE)
The RKE keypad is hardwired to the SJB. The SJB interprets the inputs from the RKE keypad and then controls the associated operation. The RKE keypad is illuminated for 5 seconds when any button is pressed. Additionally, it requests the illuminated entry feature to turn the interior lamps on. If a lock all doors code is entered, the illumination turns off, as well as requests the illuminated entry feature to turn off the interior lamps. Either the RKE transmitter or the RKE keypad supplies a signal to the SJB when pressed. The SJB then supplies voltage to the appropriate door lock actuator(s) to lock or unlocks the doors (including the liftgate for wagon only). The RKE keypad or the RKE transmitter can also be used to release the luggage compartment lid.
The factory code is on a tear tag on the SJB .
The vehicle is equipped with a smart junction box (SJB) and a driver seat module.
Smart Junction Box (SJB)
The SJB is a combined fuse panel and microprocessor that controls the following systems:
CAUTION: Electronic modules are sensitive to static electrical charges. If exposed to these charges, damage may result.
Disconnect the battery. For additional information, refer to Section 414-01 .
Remove the steering column cover. For additional information, refer to Section 501-12 .
Disconnect the SJB electrical connectors.
Remove the 3 nuts and the SJB.
To install, tighten to 3 Nm (27 lb-in).
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
