Radio lock How do I remove the lock from the radio?

The code that I got was 912-927.

  • markyb78 Nov 12, 2008

I broke my 1998 Bose Head unit in my Cadillac Catera and bought a replacement at a junkyard that is the exact same radio. When I plug the radio in it tells me it is locked. I tried holding 2&3 and 1&4 for 15 seconds but nothing happened. I think the code is on the replacement head unit and is 8158. Please help.

1. Turn the ignition ON (The radio displays "LOC").
2. Press and hold presets buttons 2 & 3 or 1 & 4 for approximately 10 seconds.
The radio display changes from "LOC" to a three-digit number. Write this number down. If you have a Saturn or GEO, see note below and skip to step 5.
Don’t take long, fifteen seconds max before the next step
3. Press the AM/FM button. The radio display changes to another three-digit number. Write this number to the right of the first one.
4. You now have a six-digit number, the first three digits are from STEP 2 and the last three digits are from STEP 3, so you will have a number like this ( 212 - 212 )

press the hour set button on your radio
    until
you get the first two numbers of the code, then press the minute set
button until you've entered the last two numbers. Immediately press
    the
AM/FM button once the correct code is entered and the code SEC or
"secured" will be displayed on the display screen. Now, just turn the
radio on, and your ready to roll.

My avn520 car stereo is locked

If its locked then to unlock it the radio system needs to be reprogrammed.

To reprogram the radio there is 4 digit code. That code has to be inserted, once these code is inserted, your car radio will get into its actual setting where you can set/select your radio setting.

Many a time's radio asks for the code after car battery is disconnected.

On some cases to retrieve the code its mentioned in manual or else car dealer is other option to get car radio code.

Locked radio on a 1996 Mitsubishi montero need help replaced batt. and radio locked

You just need to call the Mitsubishi dealer. He will give you the code. If the radio has been removed before, someone may have written the code on the radio housing. You'll have to remove the radio, and the information the dealer needs in on the radio housing. Ir if you purchased used, someone may already have written the code in the owners' manual.

No problem, the dealer's used to helping out with these codes, no fee involved.

The CD player will play but will not eject the CD. What do I do

You can try pulling the radio fuse out to see if the radio will re-initialize and spit the disc out...sounds like the mechanism may be jammed in the fully loaded position. If it is a factory radio you may need to write down the security code for the theftlock system before you remove power to the radio so you will be able to use the radio again...the theft lock system locks the radio with a specific 4 digit code that you can set in the event your radio gets stolen...without the code..the radio is rendered useless. If the above power interupt doesn't do it then try removing the negative battery cable and give the radio a "hard" reset. This may cause the radio to kick out the cd.

I have a 99 gmc and i want to take the factory radio out but it has theft lock and i'm not sure how to get it out, got any ideas?

theft lock is an electric code that keeps the radio from working if the power is disconnected you must reprogram your code to work again if theft lock is not programed by the owner it needs no code to work if you are going to replace it with an after market radio it is mute any way

The factory radio has been locked out

the dealer is the only one that can unlock a locked radio, they will need to remove the radio, get a "code" off of the sticker on the back of it, and then call the dealers unlock assistance number to get an unlock code. it cant be done with out the dealer. im sorry :(
