Question about 2001 Volkswagen Golf
Thottle issues. When I press the gas pedal nothing, press to the floor and barely moves. Then all the sudden when in netual with out pressing the gas it starts to rev to the point of redline, if I press the clutch or break it stops. I have no clue. Any help?
Vw in the early years of there mk4's dont have throttle cables. Everything is ran electricly. But when some really finds out whats wrong. there are hundreds of us with 2001 golf gti's that need help with this issue.

Cruise control and throttle pedal go to a butterfly aperature on throttle body. Look in the engine compartment and while someone pushs on gas pedal. Look at the area where the cable comes out and goes around a semicircular widget (throttle body butterfly). Cruise control has another cable that joins this same plate. Check for slack in cable, clear cable path, and look for anything in that area that might be broken or routed wrong.
