1995 Nissan Maxima SE

I have this 1995 Maxima SE that replaced my same 1985, love it. The problem is on a stop light or stop sign while idling on drive the idle fluctuates as if it is going to die on me BUT it never dies. It just keep doing that for a year now and I do not know how long it will keep that way. I hate to see that one day it just dies on me in the middle of street. I took it to have tuned up, replace spark plugs, took to have the battery replaced, I put a lot of Fuel Injector cleaner but it is still the same as we speak. Some mechanics accross the street says it is the electrical cable or something. I wonder if anybody there who experience tha same can share me a FIX. Thank you very much in advance and have a nice day..RC

Just looking thru the various solutions, may I add, that, if you still have the problem, to have your Idle Air Control Valve checked. It too can be gummed up. Also, The solution by Tripleauto was quite viable, and I would have initially suggested the same thing, along with inspecting the I.A.C....

Would you please reconsider changing the "Inapproiate" rating?

TRY cleaning your throttle plate. these get some carbon buildup and will restrict airflow at idle and can cause the computer to try and compensate for it

remove the air intake hose. this comes off of aircleaner. you will see the throttle plate in there your accel cable hooks to it. spray it down with carb cleaner hold it wide open and wipe down with a rag

This was a possible solution for your problem as I cannot see/hear/drive your car thru the computer all i can do is go off the info you give me.

1995 NISSAN MAXIMA STALLING WHEN IDLING

Is there a check engine light on? Does it run well at other speeds? A stall at idle could be from a low idle ( the idle may have to be relearned using a shop computer). You may have a vacuum leak on a hose leaning out the motor and causing a stall. I would scan test the check engine for codes if it is on and possibly give yu a basis to start

unfortunately in your mode maxima nissan had quite a few issues because of beeing the first model of A32 body style from the older J30 model maxima. from what i have seen in the past it could be anything from bad harness, to flodded ECM/computer because of water entering into vehicle because of faulty cowling on top of windshield, to bad ground between trans and engine housing. if the check engine light is on, you need to scan for codes to get started. if no check engine light is on that that makes it alot harder to diagniose. if no check engine light is on, i would look at the top of the computer bracket to see if its rusted up, that coilud be sign of water coming in and flodding computer causing running issues/drivability porblems.

When i put on the ac ,i get a weird vibration every 5 seconds.especially if i stop on a red light.my car is 1995 maxima

at idle, your compressor will cycle on and off. this is what you are feeling, and is normal.

the cycling will become more frequent and faster if the freon level in your system is low.

1995 Maxima idling at 400 rpms. No diagnostic code.

If a mouse chewed the wire into you may need to check all the wires. It sounds like you need to check the operation of the idle air control valve and it's wiring circuit. Good fortune!

adjust the idling, if too low then it can't sustain the power needed to keep the engine running when it engages.

1995 Nissan Maxima starting problem

You may need a new ECM/computer. This model car is known for water leaking into the ECM from your air box. The drain hole in the bottom of the box gets clogged and after a while, your ECM gets flooded, because the water has no place to go, but onto your ECM, frying vitale circuits. Check your passenger side floor by the feet to see if its wet.
