Question about 2004 Dodge Durango

1 Answer

2004 dodge durango courtesy lights.

The courtesy lights in my 2004 dodge durango will not shut off. All my doors are closed, and when I do open a them the dash warning light turns on therefore I asume the door switches are ok. My Dimmer switch is not turned on because when I do turn the switch all the way on with the keys out, the sound indicator comes on therefore I do not think it is the dimmer switch. I am starting to think it is a relay or something but I have no idea how to find it. Any suggestions. Thanks

I found out that my interior lights in my 2004 Durango won't shut off. It started yesterday and I was not aware of it. They were on all night, and are still on today. My Husband even unhooked my battery to try and reset. They are still on. Any suggestions?

nlatreille, I have the exact make/model Durango and same problem that you do. I eventually pulled the fuse for the courtesy light out, but now I have no interior lights at all. Dealer wants a minimum of $200 to even try to fix it. Did you ever figure this one out? Thank you.

Interior lights will not go out in our 04 durango. My husband took all the bulbs out so not to drain the battery. Would be nice to find a good answer.

See http://autos.msn.com/research/vip/reliability.aspx?year=1998&make=Dodge&model=Durango . Under "Brakes". It's probably the Rear Axle Speed Sensor. Easy Fix. Do-It-Yourself. Search this site or Google "Replace rear axle speed sensor 1998 Durango"

There is a small access panel in the middle of the door. This will give you access to the door latch.

Tailgate light stays on

VEHICLES ARE DESIGNED TO TURN ON DOOR LIGHTS WHEN THE DOOR IS OPENED. IF IT TURNS OFF WHEN YOU CLOSE THE DOOR, THEN THAT IS NORMAL BY DESIGN BUT IF THE LIGHT REMAINS ON EVEN WHEN YOU PROPELY CLOSE THE DOOR, THEN YOU HAVE TO CHECK YOUR DOOR SWITCH.

Durango interior lights will not go off

This is likely caused by a defective door ajar/courtesy light switch inside the door. The switch is located on the door latch.

Interior lights won't shut off, even after all doors are closed.

it might have a door ajar switch always open, or might have a headlamp switch problem, inspect headlamp switch and interior lamp switch next to it, might be on the on position
