Recently a '95 4runner smoked in the middle of the Winter (10 deg), towed, used liquid repairer, clogged almost every path inside of engine. I decided to do it myself, parted, cleaned (power washed), reinstalled with thicker gasket (didn't take the head to the shop), new radiator, thermostat, holes, but still white smoke after starts. Without the lost of antifreez after 1-2 hours long drive, the reservoir bubling, fan does not kick in, often find harden particles inside of radiator. I decided to flush radiator about 5 times, 4runner drives better (100 miles daily), sometime bubling, and engine light code 25 is on, coolant fan still not on, doesn't accelerate up hill like before. Any better ideas is greatly appreciated. 180100 + miles still kicking.
Hi,
Possible causes of overheating are:
This is of
course assuming that nothing is internally wrong with the engine, the
coolant level is as required and that there are no leaks, air bubbles
and the belt driving the water pump is mechanically sound. In most vehicles, the radiator fan will not work if the A/C or heater is not working.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.
