The clocks-spring has nothing to do with a clock in the dash, it is a part behind the steering wheel that connects the airbag in the steering wheel (along with the horn and other steering wheel controls) to the rest of the vehicle.

The clock-spring is actually a long wire tape wound up in a round holder. It's designed to allow the wheel to turn without losing contact between the steering wheel and the rest of the vehicle. With all of the turning, sometimes the wires inside will start to break apart, which could be the problem causing the light to come on, but it could also be something else, too.

Take it to the dealer for this problem to diagnose it and repair. I wouldn't trust an airbag issue to someone who might not know what they're doing.

Also, ask them if they can help you at all with it since it only has 27,400 miles, even though it's out of warranty by time. They may not, but it never hurts to ask. If they say they can't, then you could still call Chrysler at 1-800-992-1997 and ask them if there's anything they can do to help you. Again, the answer may be no, but it never hurts to try.

If it's sensing weight in the passenger seat, it will show the airbag off symbol, which is a picture of a person in a seat with an X through a circle that represents the airbag. This indicator is above the A/C and heater control knobs, if that's the light that's coming on, it's from the purse being in the seat.

The airbag light under the speedometer (next to the left turn signal indicator arrow) is the main airbag system light. It's a picture of a person sitting in a seat with a circle representing the airbag. If this is the light that's on, it's detecting a problem with the system.

My air bag indicator light is on

the SRS module has detected a problem and turned the light on. you will have to get the code pulled to find out what set the code then have a shop diagnose the problem. working with air bags is dangerous if you don`t know what your doing. it could be something like an intermitant connection.

How do i fix the airbag light when it comes on its very irretating how do i let the light go off

The air bag warning light indicates there is a problem with the air bag system. Unless you have the proper test equipment and are trained in air bag reapair you should have a trained mechanic check and/or repair the sytem. The problem could be one of the sensors or a number of other causes. Tinkering with the air bag system is dangerous because you can inadvertently discarge the air bag. That is dangerous and will more than likely cost much more to repair the system if it needs a new bag. Unfortunately this is not a do-it-yourself system.

Thanks for using FIxYa.

My air bag light keeps coming on. What do I do?

There are several sensors related to air bags. Normally when the panel light is on it indicates the air bag in NOT FUNCTIONAL. You should have this check by a reliable shop or dealer. If you and not sure of how to test or check an air bag system you shouldn't tinker with the system. It is possible to set off the air bag(s) accidentally. That could be dangerous.

Air bag light is on and cruise control, lighter and horn don't work. There is a mechanism I'm sure in the steering wheel that needs to be changed. Is it dangerous to drive until I get it...

if the air bag light is on that means the system is disabled. If you dont mind driving without an airbag than i would say it is no more dangerous than driving a pre air bag vehicle and those inherent dangers. Remember howevere that an air bag is a secondary resttraint system and should always be used in conjunction with the primary restraint system...your seatbelts.
