Question about 2002 Dodge Intrepid
My 02 intrepid just started ticking. Engine light is not on, oil is fine. Is this the start of a slugged up engine?
Most dodge motors have adjusters on the rockers for taking up slack in the valve-train. when these get worn or plugged by dirt they turn the valves from soft hydraulic to hard ticking due to a space between the lifter and the valve. If this is an overhead cam with roller lifters then these have become worn or fouled.

Sometimes before getting into that criteria, check your knock sensor sensor first, it tends to make a slight knocking sound, even low grade octane fuel makes the car tick, emissions, try your grade of fuel first, never use anything below 84
