when my 99 t& c is running my gauges stop working and all my indicator lights come on. i bang on dash and it starts working agan. if i put it in drive the van kills sometimes.....any sugestions?

My 1999 Town and Country has a very similar problem & mine too is resolved if I hit the middle of the dash. Use to happen every now and then, now it happens 3 or 4 times on a 1 hr. trip. But there has been a few times when I started the van, & it died out. If I hit the dash( in the same place) while trying to start the van, then it will stay running. If after 3 attempts and no sucess....it does nothing when you turn the key.

Does anyone have a problem like this? Could use some answers.

Hi sounds like a bad connection behind the clocks has any one done any work near the dash before the problem started as the wiring loom connecters can come loose a bit like a scrat lead on your tv you could try tapping the gauges gently when they start acting up see if it makes any difference or put your hand behind the dash and jiggle the the loom gently see if any thing happens if this fails i would take the clocks out and check the wiring yates210456

Need to find out why the radio, guages, and speedometer all just quit, have checked all fuses. Did troublshooting online and it tells me it could be the voltage regulator or the engine temp sensor. I dont...

Start with verifying that the fuses are indeed GETTING power to them and they are indeed good. Use a test light to check fuses. When the engine is running, gently turn the ignition key either way and see if they come to life, if so, the ignition switch is bad. The Voltage Regulator or Temp sensor have absolutely NOTHING to do with your problem.

My speedometer,Tach, Gas guage, temp guage, windows all lost.

That smoke came from some wires that shorted and melted. Take the car immediately to a shop and fix the wiring loom, it can burst into flames at any minute now.

Defective tachometer and speedometer

Do the following:1)key in the ON position:remove the 7.5 gauge fuse.Tach needle should read "0:". 2)put it back,go on the engine and unplug the green plug on the igniter -the big one, with 5 or 6 wires on it.The needle on tach reading should be zero.If not you have a short circuit on the black wire between that plug and the plug on the conbination meter.3) If the reading is zero with the plug disconnected, the black wire for the tach is short-circuited inside the igniter. 2002 Lincoln LS electrical systems down- won't start

Removed CD player for jammed CD. Reinstalled but car ignition and most electrical sytems won't operate although fuses appear OK. Don't know if it is related to the anti-theft system. When ignition is turned on, both tach and speedometer needles peg out and return to zero but no type of ignition
